SPOT ADMISSION NOTICE 2024-25
The Central University of Odisha (CUO) believes in the all inclusive policy. To fill its vacant seats
under different reserved/unreserved categories for admission in different programmes, CUO is
going to have its Spot Admission on 25 July 2024. This is for information of all aspirant
candidates who either appeared or not appeared in the NTA CUET-PG entrance test 2024, but
interested to take admission in the Central University of Odisha are herewith informed to take
part in this Spot Admission.
1. The admission shall be given on the basis of score percentage in the spot entrance
test.
2. The Reporting time for Spot Admission is by 10 AM of 25 July, 2024.
3. Application cum Counselling Fee is Rs. 1000/- (Non Refundable) for all categories and
it will be paid through online on the spot.
4. Interested candidates are advised to bring their original documents with one set photo
copies and 5 passport size photos.
5. Document verification will be made from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM in the respective
departments. For Anthropologyand Journalism & Mass Communication, departments are in
City Centre Campus, Landiguda, Koraput. Rest other programmes’ departments are in Main
Campus, NAD, Sunabeda.
6. After documents verification, eligible candidates will be allowed to appear in the Spot
Entrance Test. MCQ based Spot Entrance test will be from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM. The
maximum marks of the Entrance Examination will be 50. There will be 25 Multiple Choice
Questions. There will no negative marking in wrong answer/ Un –attempt questions. For
Post Graduation programmes, entrance syllabus will be on respective +3/UG syllabus; but
programmes like MBA, MBA (LSCM), M.A. in J&MC, and M.A. in Sociology, syllabus will be
on General Knowledge. Entrance result will be declared by 2:30 PM. Admission will be
given from 2:30 PM onwards. Admission fee shall be paid through online.
7. The University gives no confirmation to any candidates to be admitted, unless he/she
appears in person for documents verification and subsequently appeared in the entrance
test. So, interested candidate has to report for admission at his/her own interest.
8. The number vacant seats may increase subject to subsequent cancelation of admission or
change of admission category.
9. If no candidate found within the OBC/EWS category, the vacant seats will be
filled from Unreserved Category; and if no candidate found within the SC/ ST
category the vacant seats will be filled among the inter change category of SC/ST.
10. The Spot Admission 2024-25 will be conducted for admission in following programmes:

2 M.A. in Odia A Graduate with Odia as a subject at the graduation level with
minimum 50% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) aggregate and in the
respective subject from a recognized University /Institution.
(5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PwD candidates).
**Language specific questions would be in Odia language only
3 M.A. in Hindi A Graduate with Hindi as a subject at the graduation level with
minimum 45% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) in the respective subject
and aggregate from a recognized University/ Institution. (5%
relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PwD candidates).
4 M.A. in Sanskrit A Graduate with Sanskrit as a subject at the graduation level with
minimum 45% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) in the respective subject
and aggregate from a recognized University/ Institution. (5%
relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PwD candidates).
5 M.A. in Sociology Any Graduate with minimum 50% marks (or an equivalent grade
in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in
aggregate from a recognized University /Institution.
(5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PwD candidates).
6 M.A. in Economics Any Graduate with Economics Honours/Major having mini- mum
50% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed) in aggregate from a recognized
University /Institution; or a Graduate in Commerce/ Statistics/
Mathematics/ Engineering or any other Social Science subjects
with 60% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) in aggregate from a
recognized University /Institution.
(5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PwD candidates).
7 M.A. in J&MC Any Graduate with minimum 50% marks (or an equivalent grade
in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in
aggregate from a recognized University /Institution.
(5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PwD candidates).
8 M.Sc. in Any Science or Arts Graduate with minimum 50% marks (or an
Anthropology equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is
followed) in aggregate from a recognized University / Institution.

09 M.Sc. in Statistics A Graduate in Arts/Science with Mathematics/ Statistics as a
subject and secured minimum 50% marks (or an equivalent

B. Rule in case of "TIE" (where TWO or more candidates’ merit score is same even in
decimals), belonging to any Category: resolving ties will be made as per Criteria (7.6)
mentioned in the prospectus 2024-25.
C. Once an offer of admission is made, the candidate(s) is/are required to complete the
admission process including payment of admission fee within the stipulated date for that
particular round of admission. On failure to complete the admission process including the
payment of fee by the stipulated date, the offer of admission shall be cancelled and the seat
will be automatically allotted to the next candidate in order of merit.
D. Canvassing or influencing for admission at CUO through any channel will lead to rejection
of application or disqualification of candidateship.
E. If any discrepancy is found in the details provided in the application and the documents
uploaded and submitted, the University has all the right to cancel the admission.
F. Admission will be cancelled/suspended at any stage in case of following cases:
a. does not fulfil the eligibility requirements
b.has used fraudulent means to secure admission
G. has made false or incorrect information in the application form.
H. Any complaints/grievances/disputes related to admission must be filed within one
a. months of the closing of admissions. All documents related to admission of all the
candidates, selected or non-selected, will be discarded after this date. Hence, the
University will not be in a position to entertain any such
complaints/grievances/disputes related to admission beyond this date. No refund
will be made in case of duplication of application forms and deletion of application
after submission and payment of application fee.
I. Any refund or fee entitled to be refunded shall be remitted after completion of the
admission process as per the fee refund rule of the University or UGC, whichever is
applicable.
J. In case of withdrawal of admission by any admitted student, the refund of fees will be as
per the schedule below:

*The above refund may be changed/modified/regulated as per the UGC/Government guideline
issued if any. All course fees excluding caution deposit. Caution deposit will be returned in full at
any point of time as follows:
a. In normal circumstances, the refund will be completed within three months from the
closing date of all admission.
b. Students / Candidates are advised to carefully preserve receipts of payments and deposits
for any future reference.
