Professional Development Plan
My motivation lies in smiles on people’s faces, not in financial gains. I’m passionate and deeply
committed to help individuals in overcoming challenges and achieve their full potential. My
primary focus is to provide people with valuable services through charity work, where progress of
those I assist is my top priority. This interest has driven me to enroll in the autism and behavioral
science program. Hence, for a career in ABA services, I've familiarized myself with the ONTABA
Standards to understand the industry's expectations.
Coming from a multicultural and diverse country, I believe that my experiences in clinical
settings have helped me to be more mindful and respectful of others’ value systems. During my
tenure, my role involved maintaining records, collecting data, preparing pre-assessment tools,
taking follow-ups, meticulous document tracking, and maintaining client’s confidentiality,
providing me with valuable skills that directly align with the documentation and ethical
standards established by the ONTABA.
Moreover, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with strangers by conducting surveys about mental
health. This experience has significantly boosted my communication skills and active participation
in team meetings that proved to be an asset as an instructional therapist. Time management and
thriving in a collaborative environment were integral to my internship, contributing to my overall
competence.
I also recognize areas where I can enhance my skills as I aspire to work in the field of ABA
services. Firstly, I'm determined to improve my reporting and writing abilities through project-
based experiences, which closely align with the Documentation Standard of ONTABA. Secondly,
I am committed to developing a consistent reading habit to stay updated on the latest developments
in the field of ABA.
In addition, I acknowledge my limited experience working with children with autism. To bridge
this gap, I plan to actively seek a placement opportunity that provides hands-on experience in
working with this specific population. Furthermore, I have a strong intention to apply for family
respite services. This will enable me to put my passion and ABA into practical action, making a
positive impact on individuals and families in need. These endeavors not only reflect my
dedication to personal and professional growth but also align with the ONTABA Standards.
