HOLIDAY

HOMEWORK
CLASS VII (2024 - 25)
Dear Students

In the realm of rest and play,

Learning thrives in its own way.
With each endeavour and every quest,
May growth and discovery be at its best…

The summer vacation brings with it ample opportunities to engage in

various enriching activities. To help you stay organized and focused during
this time, we have outlined a few engaging and interesting research-based
tasks and activities for you.

Consider the following advice for the timely completion of your assigned
work:

Organize Your Time: Before embarking on your holiday tasks, plan your
days. Dedicate specific time for study, assignments, and unwinding.
Keep a Steady Pace: Stick to a consistent study schedule during the
break to avoid procrastination and stay aligned with your objectives.
Rest and Recharge: Don’t forget to take regular breaks to refresh
yourself. Short intervals of rest can rejuvenate your mind for better
focus.
Ditch your Gadgets: Set limits on screen time not just for yourself but
for the entire family. Establish a household rule that says gadgets
need to be shut off at certain times.
Learn a New Skill: Learn a new skill, such as cooking, coding,
photography, or a new language.

The attached Holiday Homework document contains all the relevant details
pertaining to the tasks, links of the online resources to be referred to, and
the modes of submission. A journey of discovery awaits as you delve into
these assignments.

Enjoy your break and remember to balance your academic pursuits with
plenty of rest and relaxation.
General Activities for Holiday Homework

Bonafide Bookworms!

During the Summer Break, select any one book from the following four, and prepare a book
review on the same.

a) Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

b) The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill
c) Room on the Roof by Ruskin Bond

Here are some sample questions that can help you think critically about the book:

1. Main Idea of the Book: What’s the big idea or main point the book is trying to make?
What did the book manage to do? Is the main idea easy to find and is it backed up by
the research?
2. Subject of the Book: What’s the book all about? Is it explained well? Does the author
talk about everything needed to really cover the topic? Is everything presented fairly, or
can you tell if the author prefers one side over another?
3. Your Learning: How did the book help you understand the topic it’s about? Would you
tell other people to read it? Why or why not?

Chronicle Your Thoughts!

Create a routine of reading newspaper daily.

Maintain a newspaper scrapbook by putting together interesting articles, creative
advertisements, comic strip series, and standalone photos published in the newspaper.

LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION : July 10, 2024

The Revision Assignments must be attempted in

respective subject notebooks.

Task 1 is to be done as per the assigned roll numbers and Task

2 is to be performed by every child.
TASK 1: “Photosynthesis in Action: A Mini-Garden Experiment”-

Roll Nos. 1 to 25
To observe and document the process of photosynthesis
through a hands-on gardening project.

Students will create a mini-garden using clear plastic containers

to grow plants and observe the changes over time. They will
document the growth of the plants, the color of the leaves, and
the conditions under which the plants thrive, linking these
observations to the process of photosynthesis.
Requirements:
Clear plastic containers
Potting soil
TOPIC-PROJECT / ACTIVITY Seeds (e.g., beans, peas, or any fast-growing plant)
Water
A sunny spot or grow lights
A Scrap file for documentation

Steps:
Plant the seeds in the clear plastic containers filled with
potting soil.
Place the containers in a sunny spot or under grow lights.
Water the plants regularly and observe their growth.
Document the changes in the plants, such as the
development of leaves and height increase in the scarp file
using images.
Relate the observations to the process of photosynthesis,
discussing how sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water
contribute to the growth of the plants.
SCRAPBOOK: Roll No- 26 onwards
Nutrients are the components found in our food such as
carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats, etc. These components
are necessary for living organisms to survive. Plants produce
their food while animals and human beings do not produce
their food. We indirectly or directly depend on plants and
animals for our food needs. Make a scrapbook showing the
different modes of Nutrition in Plants.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Page limit - 6 to 10 pages.
2. Draw or paste relevant pictures
3. You may use AI Tools such as Gemini, Co-pilot etc. for
generating images and finding content.

TASK 2: Exploring Natural and Man-Made Fibers

Collect pieces of different fabrics (natural and synthetic).

Research and gather information on any chosen fabric,
including its name, source (plant /animal/man-made),
relevance to specific regions and its purpose (e.g., clothing
, bags ,mats )
Document the properties of each fabric (strength,
durability, water absorption etc.) on an A4 sheet to be
kept it in the created folder.
Create a folder using A3 sheet and decorate the cover with
the collected fabric pieces by arranging them aesthetically.
Each learner will be able to
Gain a practical understanding of how plants use sunlight to
produce food and oxygen.
Enhance his/ her ability to observe and document scientific
LEARNING OUTCOME/SKILL
phenomena.
ENHANCED
Practice recording data and analyzing their findings.
Express his/ her creativity by assembling various fabric pieces
and creating a folder.

TASK 1
Construct a cube (with square faces), triangular pyramids (with
triangular faces), and two other 3D shapes.
Subject them to gentle pressure or tilting, record observations
and analyze stability variances on A4 sheets.
Investigate the stability and durability of square and triangle
structures, constructed using toothpicks and air-dry clay.
Provide reasoning for differences observed, emphasizing the
use of triangular shapes for stability.
Capture images during the activity to explain why triangles and
structures with triangular faces exhibit greater stability
compared to other shapes.

TOPIC-PROJECT / ACTIVITY

Count the number of faces, sides and edges of all the 3

Dimensional shapes made and find the value of ( F + V - E)
where
F = Number of faces
V = Number of vertices
E = Number of Edges
TASK 2- Fractional Mojito Mix-Up
Cut half a lime into slices and put them at the bottom of a tall glass,
keeping one slice for garnish. Add 5-6 mint leaves.
Use a spoon or anything you have to press down on the lime and
mint to release their flavors.
Squeeze the other half of the lime into the glass and add a
tablespoon of powdered sugar. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Pour about 200ml of club soda into the glass and stir with a straw.
Fill the following table using fractions, the first row has already
been done as an example for you:

Record your observations and prepare a collage of the task on Coloured
