1. FENG SHUI AND YOU
Feng Shui (pronounced "fung shway") is the forerunner of geography and ancient natural sci-
ence that deals with the placement of dwellings, tombs, and other structures by the flow of Qi
(energy, both visible and invisible).
Feng Shui means "Wind-Water" and was closely guarded knowledge in ancient China, reserved
to ensure good health, power, and wealth for the Emperor and his most essential Officials.
Feng Shui practice is complex and relies upon the principles of Yin-Yang, Five Elements, and
Eight Trigrams, all reflecting the numerous processes that occur in nature all the time. Feng
Shui Masters, skilled mathematicians, astronomers, and geographers practiced it.

Flying Star
Flying Star is a powerful San Yuan Feng Shui method used to select, position, design, and
improve properties.
Flying Stars are the nine bodies of Qi with their specific traits and attributes.
There are nine Flying Stars: Star 1, Star 2, Star 3, Star 4, Star 5, Star 6, Star 7, Star 8, and Star 9.

The auspicious Stars are 8, 9, 1, 6, and 4.
The inauspicious Stars are 2, 5, 7, and 3.

In Feng Shui practice, we typically plot the property chart using the Flying Stars method. This
Flying Star chart is the property’s ID, showing its essential potential. Using auspicious Stars’
locations and directions might significantly improve the luck of the people who live or work in
a specific property – just as the inauspicious locations/directions could make their lives and
business harder.

BASIC PRINCIPLES
Qi
Qi is known as the “breath of nature.”
It appears prosperous, growing, retreating, dead, and killing Qi.
Yin/Yang
Yin/Yang is about polarities that exist together and complement each other.
Yang is a male, active, quick, noisy, penetrative, and superficial principle.
Yin is a female, passive, slow, quiet, material, nurturing, and profound principle.
Five Elements
The Five Elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.
The relationship between Elements is crucial for Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology practice.

Property activation
Every property needs to be activated for its potential to be awakened.
Sometimes, relying on just what’s there is not enough, and if we want better Feng Shui, we have to
activate the property - outside or inside. For external activation of the Stars (the most powerful), we
typically use water or walls/shrubs. For internal activation, we use water or activity. The activation
method depends on the landscape, surroundings, and the essential Feng Shui characteristics of the
property.

2. FOLLOW THE STARS
At the beginning of February each year, the energy in the nine locations of our property chan-
ges. In such a way, while specific locations become good or better than they were, other areas
become bad or worse. With insight into annual Feng Shui forecasts, planning how to use the
space to gain control over life and business is possible. The key to getting the most out of a
particular year is to use auspicious locations and avoid activating those bad ones.
The overall influence of the Star at specific locations depends primarily on its nature: good,
bad, or neutral. However, whether the place is active or passive is also essential because the
more active the area is - the faster the Stars will work.
Regarding active locations at home, the most active is always the area that houses the main
entrance.
In addition, the front of the property is also considered very active, as the side with the most
openings and an unobstructed view (sometimes the front of the property is most open with a
clear view, although this is not necessarily the rule).

For those who lead an active life, have goals to accomplish, or a highly competitive business to
run, we recommend following annual or monthly Flying Stars. The general rule for “Following
the Stars” is to “follow” the yearly Star 9 for wealth, fame, and success. While Star 1 supports
smooth sailing, movement, and travel - Star 8 is more suitable for those looking for stability and
persistence. Regarding Star 6, it is a perfect aid for those striving for authority and discipline,
while Star 4 is ideal for social life, romance, and - academics.
However, more than knowing the nature of the nine Stars is required because when employing
them, we should also consider what a certain Star represents for a person (relationship, wealth,
health, etc.). You can master this knowledge in Althea’s Feng Shui courses. In addition, we can
also use the other Stars, like Star 3 to open new paths, Star 7 for fame
and joy, Star 2 for properties, etc.

6. HEALTH AND SLEEPING IN 2024
HEALTH
Annual Flying Stars affect our health differently - depending on their strength and auspiciousness.
Since the Stars affect us through the locations we spend time in (most notably the area where
we sleep), paying attention to annual Stars is essential. The awareness of the locations of the
troublesome Flying Stars is vital for the elderly, pregnant women, those in recovery, and eve-
ryone with chronic health issues and immunity problems. Feng Shui teaches us
to avoid locations that can weaken our health and spend time in those
that beneficially affect it.
BAD FOR HEALTH
IN 2024:
The bad locations for health in 2024 are:

- SOUTHEAST 1
SOUTHEAST 1
- EAST 2
EAST 2
Don’t sleep in the locations mentioned above if your health is weak or
you have a Rabbit or Dog in your Chinese Ba Zi Astrology chart.
*Regarding North, it is still a good location for health, although it shouldn’t be a first choice for
those with water retention or kidney issues).

The suitable locations for your health in 2024 are:

EAST
Southwest is an excellent area for energy and recovery, and it will NORTHEAST
primarily benefit those who are tired and lack energy and optimism.
East is perfect for deep rest and (self)healing practices in 2024, although it
is not a primary choice for those with cancer or a history of cancer (it promotes fast growth).
The Northeast is a neutral area for health and can help with recovery.

SLEEPING
We are the most vulnerable while sleeping, so we need an excellent location to place our beds
in 2024.
This is especially important for those born in the days of Rabbit, Dog, or Ox.

The best locations for sleep in 2024 are:

- SOUTHWEST
- EAST
- NORTHEAST

Place your bed in the Southwest or East for a good night’s sleep.
Northeast is this year also favorable for sleeping.

7. ROMANCE IN 2024
We need romance because it brings fun and joy to our lives – just as it makes us happy and
content. Romance is about being close to someone and actively finding or keeping the butter-
flies that connect us with a specific person alive. It’s also about being able to relate to someo-
ne and have a good time together.

The best areas for romance in 2024 are:

- NORTHWEST (great for everyone)
- SOUTH (more suitable for males)
- NORTH (good for females)
- SOUTHEAST (for males)

If you’re single or want more romance, move your bed to the Northwest of your bedroom.

The North will work better for females (it helps improve their love luck), while the South and
Southeast are more suitable areas for males.

In 2024, the best locations for learning, studying, teaching, writing, and research are Southeast
3, East and Northwest 3.

The most favorable location for those who need inspiration and are into art and creativity is
Southwest; move your desk here to connect with this energy.

personal and professional growth because it acknowledges not only our performance, hard work,
and ambition but also a form of encouragement that motivates us to keep going and try harder.
Your professional accomplishments in Feng Shui and Chinese Ba Zi Astrology depend on your
effort and timing.

To boost your career, place your desk in the following locations of your home or office:
- NORTHWEST
- SOUTH
- SOUTHEAST
- NORTHEAST
- SOUTHWEST
- EAST

Sitting in the Southwest or East will help you if you are in the field of research, as it will help with
long-term creative projects (architects, designers, writers, etc.).
South is auspicious for those who want to succeed in media and social networks, become popu-
lar, and achieve fame.
The East is an excellent area for those who want a fresh start; it will also benefit those in the ho-
spitality industry.
Regarding the Northeast, it is okay for long-term projects that require time and patience. At the
same time, the Southeast is beneficial for those in property businesses (real estate agents and
property developers).
Now, you must choose the area that suits you most and move your desk there!

In Feng Shui, personal directions also matter - finding a good direction to face while sitting behind the desk
is essential because this can tune you up with the best flow.
If you are an East Gua person (Gua: 1,3,4, and 9), face South 2 or SW 1.
If you are a West Gua person (Gua: 2,6,7 and 8), face South 1, Southeast 3, or Northwest 2.

10. WEALTH IN 2024
Certain things do not depend on wealth.
For example, one can be successful, contented, kind, and generous regardless of their wealth
status.
In addition, wealth cannot buy peace, happiness, or fulfillment, and it is disputable whether it
can buy love or health.
However, at its best, wealth gives flexibility, certain freedoms, and the most precious gift life
can offer: the opportunity to help others and decrease suffering.

The most favorable locations for wealth in 2024 are:

- NORTHWEST
- SOUTH
- SOUTHEAST

In 2024, Northwest is the proper wealth area, which brings prosperity; hence, it is an excellent
area for everything related to career, business, and finances. (please remember that Northwest
1 is the Sui Po area; hence, it is not favorable for placing desks.)
Regarding the South, it works exceptionally well for those in media-related businesses and
jobs. (the South will also help one’s popularity).

Southeast (especially Southeast 3) is favorable for investors and pro-

perty developers- but also for real estate, farming, manufacturing,

11. HARDSHIPS AND LOSSES IN 2024
Challenges and problems are essential parts of our lives.
They are the experiences that will make us wise and strong - eventually. Sometimes, reaching
that point could take time; before getting there, we might have to deal with many unknown and
unfamiliar things. Also, before going up, we sometimes have to stumble, feel helpless, lose our
peace of mind, question our confidence and trust in life…
The thing about life is that we cannot solve every problem!
Some problems last; we cannot see the solution or get adequate help while they are happe-
ning. The other times, we need to rest and recuperate and get back on track, stronger than
before.
If you are at the point where you want to take time off from solving problems and dealing with
hardships, Feng Shui can certainly help.

In 2024, the following areas are considered the sources of difficulties and hardship:
WEST
SOUTHEAST 1
NORTHWEST 1
SOUTH
NORTH

Since the West is the seat of notorious Star 5, activating this area in 2024 can worsen the exi-
sting conditions, bringing about additional hardships, losses, and delays. If you don’t want all
these in your life, avoid activating the West at all costs.
Southeast 1 is the wrath of Tai Sui, typically considered as the area related to conflicts, pro-
blems, and losses. A similar experience goes with Northwest 1, the seat of Sui Po.
In 2024, the North is an area that invites obstacles and slows down; hence, be careful when
using this location.
It is related to disputes and conflicts, which provoke relationship hardship and loss of energy
and time.
Since the South is the seat of the annual San Sha, be careful not to activate the area…

12. DO NOT RENOVATE IN 2024
The No Renovation locations are the ones that could open Pandora’s box, bringing all sorts of
problems and obstacles.
These locations need quiet, as otherwise, they can bring about losses, calamities, etc. If you
don’t want to deal with these, keep away from renovating specific locations of your property in
2024 because sometimes the consequences will be felt one year afterward!

Do not renovate areas in 2024:

- SOUTHEAST 1
- NORTHWEST 1
- WEST
- SOUTH

As mentioned in previous posts, the West is the seat of notorious Star 5; hence, this area is
unsuitable for reconstruction or renovation in 2024.
If you must include West in your renovation plan, start with this location in January 2024 (still
solar year 2023).

The South is the seat of San Sha, so it is also unsuitable for reconstruction/renovation, together
with Southeast 1, and Northwest 1 - which hosts the Tai Sui and Sui Po.

13. SPECIAL LOCATIONS
(activate to improve your luck in 2024)
The four unique locations change every year.
They are essential in Feng Shui practice; we consider them chests with hidden treasure.
When we are unaware of them, and when not activated, the benefits they might provide remain
hidden from us…
But the hidden treasures can be released when we know where to find them and how to acti-
vate them. Each of the four locations has its Chinese name and particular qualities.

The four unique locations in 2024 are:

- NORTHWEST 3 (Long De)
- SOUTHEAST 3 (Tai Yang)
- SOUTHWEST 1 (Tai Yin)
- NORTHEAST 1 (Fu De)

To activate Tai Yin and Tai Yang, use fire (Fire Element - find info in my e-book “Space Clearing
for your Home and Soul”).
For Fu De or Long De, use water: place a glass vase filled with water in these
locations and keep it there for a day or two.
You can also use bells, gongs, or cymbals to move the energy in all four locations, just as you
can play loud music, etc.
To improve your energy and enthusiasm or reset the energy at home after a period of hardship
or illness, activate Southeast 3; to boost your business, activate Southwest 1.
Northeast 1 is a great location to activate if one strives towards finding personal fulfillment,
although in 2024, you will get some destruction with it.

HOW TO INTERPRET THE FLYING
STARS CHART FOR 2024
• The numbers written underneath each of the directions are the annual Stars.
• The numbers inside each of the 12 quadrants represent monthly Stars.
• For example, in February 2024, one can find monthly Star 1 in the North; #2 is in the Sout-
hwest, #3 in the East, #4 in the Southeast, and so on.

Reminder - How to use the Stars:

• Pay attention to monthly #5. This is an area you don’t want to disturb too much, especially if
you were born in a Rabbit or Dog year/month/day/hour and if you’re feeling tired, weak, or
sick – or if you are experiencing a hard time in a relationship or career and business.
• Pay attention to monthly #2 if your Self is weak and you’re prone to health issues (especial-
ly those born in the Rabbit or Dog y/m/d/h).
• Pick a Star you want (#8 for money, #9 for fame, #1 for mobility, #4 for romance, etc.) and
use it daily (location).
