Power BI Pro License to Premium Per User License (Draft)
Current State - Workspaces created by Pro Licensed user
1. Wisdom Data Download
2. Wisdom Finance
3. Wisdom Financial Services
4. Wisdom Marketing
5. Wisdom Ad-hoc
6. Wisdom Customer Success
7. Wisdom Key Business KPIs (Not using it)
Migration Plan:
1. One of the dev team members should be upgraded to Premium Per
User license
2. scheduling, Datasets, Reports & sharing do not affect by upgrading
the dev team member from Pro to Premium Per user license
3. Workspace created by the Dev team member during Pro License
remains the same even after upgrading to Premium Per user License
4. No impact to the users who are accessing the reports with Pro
License
5. We can upgrade all the users from pro license to premium per user
license
6. No change of workspace or report access to any of the users
7. Now the workspaces can be upgraded from pro to premium per
license
8. Users have to logout from app.powerbi.com & log in again. After the
re-login, the license upgrade will be completed
9. All the reports can be seamlessly accessed by the users again from
premium workspaces
Testing Steps:
1. Double check that the Pro workspace is not automatically upgraded
to premium per user workspace - Manish
2. Manish will be upgraded to premium per user license
3. Manish will create a pro workspace after the license upgrade. Manish
will provide access to Sunil (Pro License)
4. Sunil will validate whether he can access the workspace or not
5. Upgrade the Newly created Pro workspace to PPU workspace
6. Sunil (Pro License) will validate whether he can access the workspace
or not
7. We will check with Yachut whether he can access the newly created
PPU workspace
Test Case 1 - Premium per user can access pro workspace
Test Case 2 –
Test Case 1: Upgraded premium user can still access all Pro workspaces and
Dashboards in it.
Step 1: Sunil create new pro workspace and dashboard in it and schedule it.
Step 2: Suni grant access to pro user Manish to these newly created pro
workspace
Step 3: Manish confirms that he can access to newly created pro workspace and
dashboards
Step 4: Upgrade Manish to Premium
Step 5: Manish checks whether he can still access all PRO workspaces and
dashboards.
Test Case 2: When pro-workspace is upgraded to premium , there is no
interruption to upgraded premium users to access these workspaces and
dashboards in it.
Step 0: Sunil upgraded to premium
Step 1: Sunil upgrades newly created pro workspace to premium
Step 2: Manish checks that he can still access upgraded pro workspace to
premium without Sunil regranting the access.
Test Case 3: When pro-workspace is upgraded to premium , there is no
interruption to schedules.
Test Case 4: When pro-workspace is upgraded to premium , there is no
interruption to non-upgraded pro users to access these workspaces and
dashboards in it.
