TRAVEL AND TOURISM
your memorable journey: It was 5 years ago when me and my family went to Turkey. It was a great
memory because we went to an aquapark. The weather was very hot, but near the water it was good.
After that we played a lot near the coastline, we played rugby.
your dream destination: My dream destination is Hawaii. Hawaii offers a mix of beautiful beaches,
volcanic landscapes, and rich Hawaiian culture. I want to explore this island and also lay on the beach.
England, Britain, the United Kingdom and the British isles on the map: England located in the Southern
part of the island of Great Britain. Great Britain included England, Scotland, and Wales. The United
Kingdom consisting of four nations: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The British Isles
located a group of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, including Great Britain, Ireland, and over 6,000
smaller islands.
preparations before a holiday: First, choose your destination and research it. Look up information about
the culture, weather, and main attractions. Plan your destination to decide what you will do each day.
After checking your passport or your ID card. See if you need a visa and apply if necessary. Buy travel
insurance to cover health, cancellations, and lost items. Also, make copies of your important documents.
Then book your hotel or place to stay. Choose suitable luggage, like a suitcase or backpack. Pa ck clothes
that are right for the weather and activities.
favourite means of transport: My favorite means of transport is the plane because it is the fastest mode
of transport. Also, I like watching the clouds from the airplane. possible problems during a holiday:
Losing your passport or other important documents can be very stressful. To prevent this, make copies
of your important documents and keep them in a separate place. Communicating in a foreign language
can be challenging. Learning basic phrases in the local language before you go can be very helpful. You
can also use translation apps. Falling ill or getting injured while traveling can ruin your holiday. Also,
buy health insurance.
favourite form of accommodation: My favorite form of accommodation is apartments. Usually, it's
bigger than a hotel room and maybe you have your garden during the holiday. Also, you can cook
something because there is a small kitchen. The price is often friendlier.
all-inclusive hotel or self-catering apartment: Choosing between an all-inclusive hotel and a self-
catering apartment depends on your preferences and budget. All-inclusive hotels are often comfortable
because everything is included, like meals, drinks, and activities. Hotels also have pools and
entertainment possibilities. However, they can be more expensive and crowded. On the other hand, self-
catering apartments provide flexibility as you can cook your meals and explore local culture
independently. They are often cheaper and offer more space, but you have to plan more. Consider your
budget, travel style, and group size to make the best decision for your holiday.
camping sites or bed and breakfast places: Camping sites offer an outdoor experience, allowing you to
connect with nature and enjoy activities like hiking and fishing. They are often more budget-friendly
than traditional accommodations like hotels or B&Bs. However, camping requires more preparation
and equipment, including tents, sleeping bags, and cooking equipment. Weather conditions can impact
your camping experience, with rain or extreme temperatures. On the other hand, bed and breakfast
accommodations offer a cozy and personalized experience. They typically include breakfast, allowing
you to start your day with a meal before exploring the area. However, bed and breakfast places may be
more expensive than camping sites, especially in popular tourist destinations.
hostels or hotels: Hostels are generally more budget-friendly than hotels, it's a food idea for travelers
who want to save money. They often offer communal spaces where guests can socialize. However,
hostel accommodations typically involve shared rooms. On the other hand, hotels offer room options,
including private rooms with en-suite bathrooms and providing comfort. Also, hotels are generally more
expensive than hostels.
adventure or relaxing holidays: Choosing between adventure and relaxing holidays depends on your
personal preferences and what you need at the moment. If you want excitement, new experiences, and
exploration, an adventure holiday might be perfect. On the other hand, if you're feeling tired a relaxing
holiday could be the ideal choice. Imagine yourself on a beach, or spa. Relaxing holidays provide an
opportunity to recharge your batteries.
package tour or independent travel: I think both package tours and independent travel have their
advantages. With a package tour, everything is organized for you, so it's convenient and you don't have
to worry about planning. Plus, you often get to see popular attractions and have a guide to explain
things. But, package tours are often more expensive than independent tours. However independent
travel allows for more flexibility. You can explore on your own, and discover hidden places.
winter holidays or summer holidays: I enjoy both of them, but if I had to choose, I think I prefer the
summer holidays. In the summer, I love the warmth of the sun, spending time outdoors, and enjoying
activities like swimming, hiking, and barbecuing with friends and family. It's also a great time to travel
and explore new places without worrying about cold weather. However, winter holidays can be fun too,
especially if you enjoy activities like skiing and snowboarding. Winter also brings the holiday season,
which is a special time for celebrations and spending time with loved ones.
beaches or sightseeing or mountains: I enjoy all three, but if I had to choose, I think I would go for
beaches. There's something so relaxing about the sound of the waves. Plus, I love swimming and lying
on a beautiful beach. However, I also appreciate sightseeing because it allows me to learn about
different cultures, history, and architecture. Exploring landmarks, and museums is interesting. And then
there are mountains, which offer fresh air, and opportunities for hiking and adventure. Being surrounded
by nature is enjoyable.
cruises or eco-tourism: Cruises offer a convenient way to visit multiple destinations and enjoy luxury
onboard the ship. On the other hand, eco-tourism focuses on sustainable travel practices. It's a great
way to connect with the natural world, learn about conservation, and supp ort local communities.
a holiday abroad or in Hungary: I think both options have their advantages. Going abroad allows you
to explore new cultures, try different cuisines, and see famous landmarks. It's an opportunity for
adventure and discovering new places. On the other hand, having a holiday in Hungary can be
enjoyable. There are many beautiful cities, historic sites, and natural attractions to explore right here at
home. The travel price is often cheaper in Hungary than abroad.
going somewhere again or exploring new places: I think both options have their appeal. Going
somewhere again allows you to recall memories, revisit favorite spots, and perhaps discover new things
you missed the first time. However, exploring new places can be exciting. It's a chance to create new
memories and experiences. Personally, I enjoy more exploring new places.
who to go on holiday with: I usually go to a holiday with my family but often go with my friends or
boyfriend. This year me and my boyfriend will go to Albania for 5 days by plane.
air travel safe or not: I think air travel is generally safe. Airlines follow strict rules to keep passengers
safe. Planes are well-maintained, and pilots are well-trained. Airports also have many security checks
to protect travelers. While there are some risks, such as turbulence or technical problems. I believe air
travel is one of the safest ways to travel. It's important to follow all safety instructions from the airline
to have a safe trip.
things to know at the airport: When you arrive at the airport, the first thing to do is check-in. You can
do this at the check-in counter or online before you arrive. Make sure you have your passport and ticket
ready. After check-in, you need to go through security. Be prepared to remove items like laptops and
liquids from your bag. Also, you might need to take off your shoes, belt, and jacket. Keep your boarding
pass and ID or passport handy, as you will need them at security and when boarding the plane. I t's
important to know the baggage rules. Next, check the information screens for your departure gate.
Airports can be large, so give yourself enough time to reach your gate. Follow the airport signs to find
check-in, security, and your departure gate.
hitch-hiking safe or not: Hitch-hiking can be both safe and risky. It’s important to be careful. One risk
is that you don’t know the person giving you a ride. They might be friendly, but they could also be
dangerous. Another risk is that you might get stranded in an unknown place if you don’t find a ride.
Overall, hitch-hiking can be an adventure, but it’s important to be very careful and take steps to stay
safe.
bad weather affecting your travel plans: Bad weather can affect your travel plans. For example, heavy
rain, snow, or storms can cause flight delays or cancellations. This means you might have to wait a long
time at the airport. If you are traveling by car, bad weather can make driving dangerous. Roads can be
slippery, and visibility can be poor. It’s important to drive slowly and carefully or wait until the weather
improves.
a memorable school trip: Last year me and my class went to Sárospatak. Unfortunately, the weather
was rainy. In the afternoon and night we were speaking to each other and playing cards, it was fun. On
the second day, we went to Sátoraljaújhely to an adventure park. It was a great memory and we enjoyed
the class trip.
a country you would like to visit: I would like to visit Japan. I am very interested in its culture and
history. I would love to see the beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and visit famous places like Tokyo.
In Tokyo, I want to see the skyscrapers and try delicious Japanese food like ramen. I am also interested
in Japanese traditions like tea ceremonies and festivals. Overall, Japan has a lot to offer, and I think it
would be a wonderful country to visit.
driving or public transport in your town: In my town, I usually go by bus because it's easier and I can't
park in the city center easily or for free. Also, I don't want to pollute the air with cars every day. But if
I have to go far I like to drive.
driving or cycling in your town: Driving is very comfortable, especially if you need to go somewhere
far or carry a lot of things. It’s faster than cycling, and you can travel comfortably in any weather.
However, driving can be expensive. Also, traffic jams can be very frustrating. On the other hand, cycling
is great for short distances and it’s good for your health. It’s also much cheaper than driving. Plus,
cycling is better for the environment. However, it can be difficult to cycle in bad weather.
favourite everyday means of transport: My favorite everyday means of transport is the car. I like it very
much drive, and also its faster. But I don't drive every day because I go to school by bus.
the safest means of transport: I believe that air travel is the safest means of transport. Airlines follow
strict safety rules. Planes are checked and maintained regularly to make sure they are safe to fly.
Statistics show that flying has fewer accidents compared to other types of transport, like cars. Even
though some people are afraid of flying, it is very safe.
the most environmentally-friendly means of transport: I think cycling is the most environmentally-
friendly means of transport. Bicycles do not use any fuel, so they do not produce any pollution. This
helps keep the air clean and reduces greenhouse gases that cause climate change. Cycling also helps
reduce traffic. It is a great way to stay healthy and fit, too, because it gives you good exercise. Overall,
cycling is the best choice for the environment when it comes to everyday transport.
traffic in your area: Traffic in my area can be quite busy, especially during rush hours. In the morning
and evening, many people are driving to and from work, which makes the roads very crowded.
Sometimes, there are traffic jams that can last a long time, and it can be frustrating to be stuck in traffic.
On weekends, the traffic is usually lighter, but it can still get busy near shopping centers and popular
attractions.
the main attractions in your area: Debrecen is a beautiful city in Hungary with many interesting
attractions. One of the main attractions is the Great Reformed Church, which is the largest Protestant
church in Hungary. Another popular place to visit is the Déri Museum. The museum has many exhibits,
including art, and history. The Nagyerdei Park is also a must-see. It is a large park with beautiful green
spaces, a lake, and a zoo. People go there to relax, have picnics, and enjoy nature. In the park, you can
also find the Nagyerdei Stadium, which hosts many sports events and concerts.
touristic regions in Hungary: Hungary has many beautiful and interesting regions to visit.
Budapest: The capital city is one of the most popular tourist destinations. You can see famous buildings
like the Parliament Building, Buda Castle, and the Chain Bridge. The city also has many thermal baths,
such as the Széchenyi Thermal Bath.
Lake Balaton: This is the largest lake in Central Europe and a popular holiday spot. People go there to
swim, sail, and relax on the beaches.
Eger: This historic town is known for its beautiful castle and thermal baths. Eger is also famous for its
wine, especially the red wine called Egri Bikavér.
famous sights in Britain and the US: Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament in London. The Tower of
London, known for its history and Crown Jewels. Buckingham Palace, the residence of the British
monarch. Stonehenge, a mysterious monument.
The Statue of Liberty in New York City, a symbol of freedom and democracy. The White House in
Washington D.C., the official residence and workplace of the US President. Yellowstone National Park,
the first national park in the world, known for its geysers and wildlife. Mount Rushmore in South
Dakota, a monumental sculpture of four US Presidents.
your experiences in English-speaking countries: I was in London 2 years ago. It was an enjoyable
holiday, I liked London. There were nice buildings and historical places. The people were kind and
helpful to us, but they spoke fast, so sometimes I didn't understand what they said. I would like to go
back there because I'm impressed.
