Competition Guidelines and Mechanics

For IFSU Students and Staff Only
General Guidelines:
• Participants may only submit one entry per event.
• Participants must fill-in the registration form as attachments to formalize
participation in the events. This will be made available at the IFSU International
Affairs and Linkages Office Official Facebook Page.
• At any stage of evaluation, if an entry is found to violate the rules, regulations
and guidelines, the entry will be removed from evaluation process.
• The decision of the committee will be final and binding to all the entries.
• Specific rules and regulations per event will be provided below.
Eligibility:
• Open to students and staff of the six campuses of Ifugao State University.
o Requirement
▪ Proof of enrollment for students (validated student ID)
▪ Proof of enrollment for faculty/staff (employee ID)
• Entrants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application
Essay Writing
a. Topic: Essays must revolve around the theme.
b. Originality and Language. Essays must be original, written in English.
Material copied from internet/other sources will not be considered under
the contest. The participant must be the same person who has written
the content and plagiarism would not be accepted.
c. Word Count. The essay must be within 800-1000 words.
d. Formatting. Double-spaced, 12-point font in Arial, standard margins.
Include a title page with your name, institution and email address.
e. Submission.
i. To be honored as an official entry, all entries must be submitted
as a PDF file uploaded within the registration form online.
ii. A participant can send only one entry. In case it is found that any
participant has submitted more than one entry, all the entries will
be considered as invalid for the said participant.
iii. Participants are required to rename the submitted entry following
the format: FullName_Name of Institution/Country.

iv. Deadline of submission will be on August 8, 2024. Submit through

f. Judging Criteria
i. Content (35%): The writer demonstrates clear understanding
and deals with subject in strong and convincing manner. Writer
uses persuasive information.
ii. Originality (35%): The writer demonstrates creativity or
originality. The essay strongly shows writer’s attitude or point of
view in a meaningful and original way; thesis clearly supported.
The secretariat will use an AI-detection tool to verify the originality
of the essay.
iii. Writing Style (30%): The essay is well-organized and focused
with strong development. The writing style and structure reinforce
tone and content with no grammatical errors. The writer uses
appropriate vocabulary and tone.
ASEAN HYMN (Tiktok Challenge)
a. The Tiktok Dance Challenge may be individual or per group with a
maximum of 5 members.
b. Participants can perform any choreography they like as long as it is
decent and entertaining.
c. The content of the entry should focus on the theme of the ASEAN 57 th
Founding Celebration and must use the ASEAN Hymn as the music
background.
d. The entry must be a minimum of one (1) minute and a maximum of two
(2) minutes.
e. Entries must not be offensive, rude, defamatory, or racist. Any entry
which the judges deemed inappropriate will be invalid.
f. Using text, visual effects, and props are allowed.
g. Entries will be posted on the Official Facebook Page of IFSU
International Affairs and Linkages Office

i. Judging Criteria
iv. Choreography (Originality/Creativity/Artistry/Style) – 35%
v. Visual (to include props and costume) and Audio – 35%
vi. Entertainment, Showmanship and Impact – 30%
Recorded ASEAN Hymn (Chorale) – Category A
a. Entrants will be per college for Lamut, Potia and Lagawe Campuses;
while Aguinaldo, Tinoc and Hapao Campuses will each be considered
as entrants;
b. There shall be 10-20 members per group which may include faculty and
staff.
c. The choir can perform in any appropriate attire or costume.
d. Each group will sing two (2) songs. First song can be any
nationalistic/unity song. Second song is the ASEAN Hymn.
e. The performance time is limited to 4-8 minutes.
f. There shall be minimal choreography.
g. The presentation may be accompanied with any musical instrument.

j. Criteria for Judging
vii. Performance (40%)- This includes tonal quality, voice production,
improvisation/instruments, uniqueness and originality.
viii. Musicianship (40%)- This includes pitch, intonation, dynamics,
timing and rhythm and harmony.
ix. Visual Presence and Technical Editing (20%)- This includes facial
expression, costume/attire, clarity of audio and video (MP4 - 1920
x 1080).
