SECTION A: WRITING REFLECTION PARAGRAPHS (15%)
DUE DATE: June 7, 2024
Throughout the course, you have been given a number of topics to write about (ENG 2D1-5=8 in total;
ENG 2D1-2= 7 in total) and you have uploaded your “quickwrites” to “Student Portfolio” on
BrightSpace. The topics are about the texts we have studied together in class, your supplementary
reading, and/or other current events/themes.
Now, you will rewrite and polish three (3) of your pieces. One of the pieces must be from the following dates:
ENG 2D1-5 Feb 21, or April 4, or May 6.
ENG 2D1-2 Feb 22, or April 4, or May 6.
In addition, for each piece, you will write an analysis paragraph identifying what is GOOD about your
writing: How did you use language, sentence structure, rhetorical devices? What edits did you make to
make your writing better? Why are you proud of this piece?
Your paragraphs should include:
1. Proper paragraph structure – using topic sentences and supporting details.and concluding
sentences
2. Ideas backed up with at least two verifiable evidence/quotes/facts from the original text.
3. In-text citations in MLA style format, where required.
You will submit to BrightSpace ONE document, that includes:
● your original QuickWrites (your three, unedited portfolio entries)
● your three edited good copies
● your three analysis paragraphs
So your Google Doc will be organized as follows:

SECTION B: Oral & Media Presentation (15%)
PRESENTATION DATES: June 11- 17 (Period B), June 11-18 (Period C), 2024
In this section, you are required to create an oral & visual presentation based on your independent study
(ISU) novel. Present an analysis of how the author/writer of your ISU novel uses (or utilizes) one of the
following literary elements to develop his, or her story. Your thesis statement should be clearly stated.
1. Setting
2. Characterization
3. Theme
4. Conflict
You must use supporting evidence, including at least three supporting quotations, from the text.
You will present your ideas visually, and orally.
● Use images that represent and convey your points
● State your thesis, and explain how your supporting quotations and visuals provide support.
● Organize your presentation: beginning introduction, middle and conclusion.
NOTE
You may choose one or any combination of media forms for this presentation. You are responsible for
your design, image and sound elements. You need to provide bibliographic information about your novel.
Your media presentation must include both visual elements and evidence of strong oral communication
skills.
To help you share your novel and reading experience, you will create a media presentation. Google slides;
is a great option for this, but talk to your teacher if you have a different media idea (e.g., podcast,
YouTube video etc.).
