25. The Shakuntalam is one the most famous plays of Kalidasa. Shakuntala was the daughter
of divine Menaka and sage Viswamitra. When she was born, she was abandoned on the way
and a sage named Kanva took her and brought her up as his daughter.
When she grew up, one day sage Kanva was away from the hermitage. King
Dushyanta
went to the forest on some hunting expedition. He met Shakuntala and they fell in love.
