Activity Sheet in General Mathematics

Quarter 1 – Module 15 - 22: Solving Real Life Problems involving
Inverse Function and Exponential Functions
WEEK 5 - 6

FOR WEEK 5

Learning Competencies: After going through this module, you are expected to:
1. Solves problems involving inverse functions. M11GM-le-2
2. Represent real-life situation using exponential functions. M11GM-le-3
3. Distinguishes between exponential function, exponential equation, and
exponential inequality. M11GM-le-4

A. Solve the following problems involving Inverse Functions

1. Converting OCelsius to OFahrenheit: Dry ice, or frozen carbon dioxide sublimes
(phase change between solid to gas) at -83.5 OC.
A. What is this temperature in Fahrenheit?
B. What is 212OF in OC ?
2. In a bag of red and blue sweets, the ratio of red sweets to blue sweets is 3:4.
A. If the bag contains 120 blue sweets, how many red sweets are there?
B. If the bag contains 180 red sweets, how many blue sweets are there?

B. Solve the following problem involving Exponential Functions.

1. A culture of 10 bacteria in a petri dish doubles every hour. How many bacteria will
there be after 3 hours?
2. The half-life of a radioactive substance is 10 days and there are 10 grams initially.
Determine the amount of substance left after 20 days.
3. Alex deposited P1,000 in a bank that pays 5% compound interest annually. How
much money will he have after 2 years?
4. A barangay has a population of 10,000 that increases at the rate of 5% each
year. Find the population of that barangay after 2 years.
5. Suppose that the number of bacteria in a certain culture doubles every 3 hours.
How many times would it have doubled in a day?
C. Identify which of the following are exponential functions, exponential equations and
exponential inequalities.

1.2x+1 = 31-x 4. y= e-x/2

2. f(x) = 1-(1/2)x 5.
3. 3 < 51+x
