Name - Pritika Yadav

Admission Numbeí –
MAED2230105

1- Reflection on the session -

Ǫ1. How did you start the session? The beginning of the session – before the
actual planned lesson activities conducted?

Ans- At the beginning of the session, I first introduced myself. Then asked the
names of all the children. All the children told their names one by one. All the
children were very happy to see the new teacher.

I asked the children that -Today all the children have come after having breakfast.
All the children told their breakfast one by one. Who makes breakfast at home?
Well, tell me what do you see on the way from home to school.

Ǫ2. What went well and why?

Ans- While teaching the children, we saw that there was participation of the
children. The children remained excited and active throughout the session.
When we asked questions to the children, all the children were answering one by
one. Our topic was "animals". When we asked questions to the children on the
subject of animals by connecting them to their environment, the children
became very excited. Then some children started telling the names of all the
animals quickly and some children became silent. The children who were
becoming more naughty were silenced by the teacher. The children made the
sounds of animals like - lion, dog.

Each child was encouraged for his answer or work and his work was appreciated.
Due to which the confidence of the children increased. This session was even
better because the topic was related to the environment of the children. Due to
which the children were answering even more enthusiastically. Children were
imitating the sound of animals, walking like them, telling about their food with
great enthusiasm.

Ǫ3. What did not go well and why?

Ans- When we started introducing our material (animals) to the children, the
children kept talking properly for 5 minutes, but when we asked them where they
saw the animals, all the children started talking together. No one was listening to
others, some were speaking in a loud voice and some in a low voice, we did not
know how to handle them, so we did a
"terre-terre activity" to calm them down so that they could hear others'
response, but after 2 minutes they again started talking together. Then their
teacher shouted at them and hit the duster on the table. Then all the children
became quiet. The class we went to had 35-40 students and the teacher was
conducting role play. Due to the large number of children, the activity was not
proper and was average. The activities could not be completed on time as
planned. Because the activities could not be completed due to the large number
of children. When the children were taken out for activities, it was taking more
time to get the children to do the activities. This was the reason for taking more
time. There was a lot of noise and commotion among the children, especially
during group activities. This happened because an attempt was made to instruct
all the children simultaneously. Some children started making a little more noise
in excitement. Due to the large number of children, there was not enough space
in the class. Due to which some children could not get enough individual
attention. The teachers were not able to give equal opportunities to all the
children at the same time. Due to which some children were feeling neglected.

Ǫ4. What was the response/experience/behaviour of children?

Ans- Initially, the children did not show much enthusiasm. As the teacher started
interacting more with the children, the curiosity of the children increased.
Initially, the children were wondering what the new teacher would teach them.
When they came to know, they were listening to the teacher carefully and
answering her questions. But some children were seen more busy just talking,
playing, touching each other, dropping things of other children in their group.

The children quickly started imitating each other. When one child in the class
drank water from a bottle, all the children started drinking water from their
bottles. When one child made a loud noise on the desk, the rest of the children
also started doing the same. The children were trying to imitate what they were
seeing in the class.

Some children in the class were answering the teacher's questions immediately.
Some were answering a little late. Some children got excited by understanding
the activities easily, while some children had difficulty in understanding the
instructions, due to which the children got a little confused and frustrated. The
children who were more confident were more busy in sharing their opinions and
answers.Children showed more interest in making friends and playing with each
other. When an activity is organized according to the children's choice, they
become more curious. When it is not of their choice, children start
getting bored. Children were following simple language and brief instructions well.
Some children were having problems in understanding the sentences.

Ǫ5. Did you get and use any teachable moment during the session?

Ans- Yes, a teachable moment came when we were discussing familiarity and a
child suddenly asked, “Are all the animals in the zoo pets?” This question
mesmerized all the children. I used this moment to help the children understand
the difference between the
natural habitat of animals in their lives and zoos. We discussed how animals are
happier in the wild because they get freedom and open space. This was an
important moment for children to understand the importance of compassion and
empathy towards animals.

Ǫ6. Any other reflection on the session.

Ans- In this session we observed that each child's pace and way of learning is
different. Some children respond and participate quickly, while some children
need more time and encouragement. So in the next session I will include more
varied activities keeping in mind the individual abilities of all children. Due to the
young age of the children, they were having difficulty understanding the
instructions. Next time I will include more visual aids (such as pictures,
flashcards) in teaching methods. I will use more classroom management
strategies, use short breaks to control noise in the classroom. In the class we
observed that some activities did not go as planned or needed more time. Next
time I will be a little flexible while planning the lesson. It should be according to
the child's age, their environment and their interests.

2- Reflection on your Teaching experience -

Ǫ7. Share some reflections about yourself as a teacher. Any interesting or
challenging moment?

Ans- When I went to teach in the class, I realized that it is very important to be
patient while working with small children. For example, some children learn
quickly, while some need more time and attention. Before teaching in the class, I
had decided that I have to spend this much time on this activity. When I taught in
the class, I probably wanted to move to the next step as quickly as possible.
Because I had to finish this activity on time. But the children were taking more
time to do the activity. From this, I learned that it is necessary to mold your
activity and your approach according to the speed of the children. When I was
giving instructions to small children, I realized that my way of giving instructions
to small children was a bit difficult for them. Some children were not able to
understand what the teacher was saying. Later I understood that I need to make
my instructions more simple, concise and connect them with visual mediums
(such as pictures or gestures). This
experience inspired me to improve my language and ways of communication. A
challenging moment came when children would tease or hit each other. There
was a small child who would start hitting other children. Children sitting nearby
were complaining about him. This made me realize that I should talk to such
children to prevent conflicts from growing among them. I should emphasize on
teaching children the importance of sharing and playing together. This made me
understand how as a teacher, I should always be ready for immediate problem
solving. While teaching or conducting activities with children, I should try
different teaching styles with children. Some children listened attentively to
stories, while some learned more from visual aids like pictures and flash cards.
While conducting activities with children in the classroom, I realized that I need
to talk and connect more with children. This experience made me realize that as
a teacher, it is important to not only teach lessons but also build an emotional
connection with children.

Ǫ8. Did you respond to or react to the situation and behaviour of children?

Ans- When I asked the children questions and they answered those questions, I
listened to their answers patiently and took their thoughts seriously. When the
children were answering the questions, I told them that whoever knows the
answer should raise their hand to answer or participate in the activity, I
encouraged the children a lot. This resulted in the children who were
participating in the activity getting inspired and they started working with more
confidence. I also encouraged the children who were not participating in the
activity to also participate in the activity. When the children were getting
distracted in the class or were doing mischief, I first explained to them lovingly
that children are not beaten. I explained it once or twice, when that child did not
understand, I made him sit at another place. When the children were feeling
tired or bored in the class, I took them outside the class and made them do a
dance activity. This made the children very happy and they were filled with
energy again. This brought their attention back to the class and they started
participating actively in the session.

Ǫ9. Any other reflection on your teaching experience.

Ans- I had a great experience teaching in KG - 1, 2 classes. The most important

lesson was that it is important to respect and encourage children's natural
curiosity. I found that storytelling is an effective teaching method, but it requires
the right timing and emotional connection. While managing group activities, I
realized that every child should get a chance to speak. When the teacher builds
a close relationship with the children, the child feels safe. This increases their
participation. I also realized the importance of time management, especially
when working with young children, it is important to do activities keeping in
mind their duration.
Ǫ10. Your key takeaways from this teaching

experience. Ans-

1- Patience and flexibility - It is very important to be patient and flexible while

working with young children. Every child learns at his own pace, so it is
important to adapt accordingly.

2- Promoting curiosity - By recognizing and encouraging children's natural

curiosity, their learning process has to be enriched. Including their questions in
the conversation increases their interest and confidence.

3- Effective communication - Telling stories, singing songs and teaching in a

playful way helps in maintaining the interest and attention of children. Stories
that touch the emotions and imagination of children attract them even more.

4- Managing group dynamics - It is important to understand and manage

the group behavior of children so that everyone gets a chance to express
themselves and learn. For this, it is necessary to resort to group activities.

5- Emotional relationship - Building an emotional relationship with children

provides them a safe and trusting environment for learning. Due to which
children participate more openly.

6- Importance of time management - With young children having a short

attention span, good time management is very important to keep activities
effective and enjoyable.

7- Valuing diversity - It is my responsibility to be sensitive to children's

different backgrounds, abilities, and needs so that every child gets an
equal opportunity.

8- Learning from challenges - Challenges teach us that as teachers we must

always learn and improve our strategies.
