NARRATIVE REPORT
As the School DRRM Coordinator, I am pleased to report on the successful execution of
the 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held at Calvario Peak National
High School on September 26, 2024. The drill, meticulously planned and coordinated by our
dedicated DRRM team, aimed to assess our preparedness and response capabilities in the event
of an actual earthquake.
The air crackled with a mix of anticipation and seriousness as the siren blared at 9:00am
signaling the start of the drill. Instantly, the entire school community – students, faculty, and
staff – sprang into action, demonstrating the effectiveness of our consistent training. The "Duck,
Cover, and Hold On" phase was executed with precision, followed by a calm and orderly
evacuation to designated assembly areas. It was heartening to witness the students, faculty, and
staff navigating the evacuation routes with confidence, a testament to the drills we've conducted
throughout the year.
Upon reaching the assembly areas, our designated personnel diligently conducted roll
call, ensuring the safety and accountability of every individual. The swift and efficient response
was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community.
While the drill showcased our strengths, it also revealed areas for improvement, such as
First Aid Response in which our first aid team was present and ready to assist, there was a slight
delay in reaching a simulated injured student in. We will address this by conducting additional
training for our first aid team, emphasizing rapid response and efficient triage procedures. These
insights will serve as valuable input for future drills and training sessions, allowing us to refine
our emergency response protocols and enhance our overall preparedness.
The successful execution of the NSED reinforces Calvario Peak National High School's
commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. We will continue to
prioritize comprehensive disaster preparedness, ensuring that our school is equipped to handle
any emergency situation effectively.
