An Industrial visit to Malabar Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Zone (Mizone) on 12th October 2023.
In the words of Steve Jobs, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a
follower.” This quote underscores the importance of practical, real-world experience
over theoretical knowledge. To this end, the Computer Application Department of
College of Applied Science, Nadapuram, organized an Industrial Visit to Malabar
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Zone (Mizone) on 12th October 2023. A unique
opportunity to step out of their textbooks and witness firsthand the practical workings
of the industry. Guided by faculty members, the students were able to gain valuable
insights, fostering their innovative thinking and preparing them to be future leaders in
the field of Computer Applications.

AIM OF THE INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The purpose of an industrial visit is to enhance educational methods by


providing students with practical knowledge through interaction, understanding of
work methods, and familiarity with employment practices. It offers students an
academic perspective and exposure to a real-world working environment.

Industrial visits also present students with the opportunity to fully understand
industrial practices. They become aware of new technologies, a crucial aspect of
their education. Visiting various companies allows students to establish beneficial
relationships, which can aid in securing good jobs in the future.

After an industrial visit, students gain a comprehensive understanding of both


theoretical and practical aspects. This experience often heightens their focus on job
acquisition. In essence, industrial visits bridge the gap between classroom learning
and practical application in industry.
Details of Industrial Visit Are Below:

Malabar Innovation and Entrepreneurship Zone (Mizone)

Date of Visit: 12th October 2023

Class during visit: 3rd Year, Computer Application

Description of the Visit: Malabar Innovation and Entrepreneurship Zone (Mizone),


Kannur District, in the state of Kerala, is a Non-Profit Organization, with the sole
objective of creating successful entrepreneurs.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT REPORT

On October 12, 2023, a industrial visit was provided to third-year Bachelor of


Computer Application students, along with three faculty members from the College of
Applied Science, Nadapuram, embarked on an industrial visit to the Malabar
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Zone (Mizone) in Mangattuparamba, Kerala. The
journey commenced from the college at 12:30 pm and reached Mizone by 2:47 pm,
with the group traveling comfortably by bus.

The visit, which saw active participation from second and final year BCA
Computer Application students, was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Jithin S, Ms.
Aswanth AP, and Ms. Smitha. An insightful introduction to the industry was provided
by Ms. Noopura, covering various sections and the 64 companies operating under
the industry.

A detailed discussion on the concept of Entrepreneurship, along with the


support extended to emerging companies by the industry and the government, was
conducted. This discussion inspired the students towards entrepreneurship and
provided them with a clear understanding of how to implement their ideas.

Interaction with the CEOs of two IT companies within the industry offered the
students a valuable opportunity. They visited these IT companies and learned how to
apply the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired through their course in the
industry.
ABOUT INDUSTRY

Malabar Entrepreneurship Innovation Zone is a Non-Profit Organization, with


a sole objective of creating successful startup entrepreneurs having business
proposals with a focus of applying disruptive advances in information technology to
enable new business opportunities preferably relevant to Indian context thereby
creating employment leading to economic and social development of Malabar.

Kerala’s commendable achievements in the field of education and literacy are


not matched by the employment generation of the state, and the state’s rural
unemployment is sky rocketing. Our focus is to generate employment via promotion
of business opportunities, by providing undisruptive advances for information
technology preferably relevant to Indian context, thereby enhancing the socio-
economic development of Malabar region. MiZone is a new pathway to tap the rural
talents and utilize their potential for India’s growth. It accommodates incubators,
accelerators and provides all the basic amenities required for the growth and
advancement of startups. It wishes to create yet another peer group of entrepreneurs
and succor them to accomplish their dreams.

VISION

The vision put forth by MiZone is to promote an open ecosystem for


innovation and entrepreneurship by assisting small businesses and technology
companies as well as students, by providing them with world class mentors, domain
experts and industrial experts. In addition, MiZone offers a resource pool and
infrastructure empowered by native angel investors and Kerala Startup Mission. It
aspires to an environment that encourages innovation and collaboration by attracting
and supporting entrepreneurs, focused on the development and commercialization of
local products and small businesses.
