Definitions
What is Physical
Education?
Is usually referred as "Education through the physical". it
is mostly aimed to help people develop "Physical
Competence" and "Knowledge of Movement and Safety".
It is associated with the development of an active and
healthy lifestyle. It includes to help develop student's
generic skills, communication, creativity, critical thinking,
and aesthetic appreciation.
What is
Nutrition?
In short; process of consuming, absorbing, nutrients from
food that are needed to sustain our growth and
development. A good nutrition starts from a good
healthy lifestyle, ex: eating healthy and balanced diet.
Some, depends on genes that supports the "metabolism"
that are much faster to absorb nutrients.
WHAT IS PHYSICAL
EDUCATION AND
NUTRITION TOGETHER?
It affects the overall healthy behavior
change. It increases physical active
lifestyle, healthy eating habits,
balanced diet, and etc. The means of
good nutrition intake could play
essential role for our fitness, it boosts
our energy to do physical activities.
Objectives
WHAT IS PHYSICAL
EDUCATION AND
NUTRITION TOGETHER?
Goal/Objective of Nutrition Education
To reinforce specific nutrition-related practices or
behaviours to change habits that contribute to poor
health. It is to create motivation to change for other
people and establish their own nutrition behavior
towards good health.

Goal/Objective of Physical Education

It's main goal is to address the three domains of learning;
cognitive/mental skills related to knowledge
movement;affective, growth in feelings or attitude; and
psychomotor, which relates to the manual or physical skills
related to movement literacy (SHAPE America, 2014, p. 4).
Value of Physical
Education and
Nutrition
Value of Physical Education
Physical Education (PE) promotes overall
health by improving cardiovascular fitness,
muscle strength, flexibility, and coordination.
Regular exercise helps in reducing stress,
enhancing mental focus, and boosting self-
esteem.
Value of Nutrition
Nutrition is the foundation of good health.
Proper nutrients fuel the body for
optimal performance, aid in recovery, and
prevent illnesses like obesity, diabetes,
and heart disease. Balanced nutrition
combined with regular physical activity
leads to a healthier lifestyle.

BENEFITS
Enhanced Physical Fitness
Regular physical activity can help children and
adolescents improve cardiorespiratory fitness,
build strong bones and muscles, control weight,
reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression,
and reduce the risk of developing health
conditions such as:

Heart disease. High blood

Cancer pressure.
Type 2 Osteoporosis
diabetes. Obesity
Examples:
BIKING

SWIMMING

JOGGING
Improved Mental Health
Physical activity can improve
mental health by decreasing
and preventing conditions such
as anxiety and depression, as
well as improving mood and
other aspects of well-being.
Examples:
EXERCISE ROUTINE
BALANCED DIET
MINDFULNESS AND
RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
CONSISTENT SLEEP
PATTERNS
WEIGHT
MANAGEMENT
Combining exercise with a healthy diet
is a more effective way to lose weight
than depending on calorie restriction
alone. Exercise can prevent or even
reverse the effects of certain diseases.
Exercise lowers blood pressure and
cholesterol, which may prevent a heart
attack.
EXAMPLES
AEROBIC
WEIGHT TRAINING
YOGA
Stronger
Immune System
Physical activity may help flush
bacteria out of the lungs and
airways. This may reduce your
chance of getting a cold, flu, or other
illness.
Exercise causes changes in
antibodies and white blood cells
(WBCs).
EXAMPLES
Regular Exercise
Nutrient-Rich Diet
Adequate Sleep
Stress Management
Increased Energy Levels
and Make you Happier

Exercise may increase

brain sensitivity to
serotonin and
norepinephrine.
Increased Energy Levels
and Make you Happier
while helping to reduce fatigue.
This may help as a treatment
method if you have certain
health conditions, such as
cancer.
EXAMPLES
REGULAR EXERCISE
ADEQUATE
HYDRATION

PATTERNS
HEALTHY SNACKING
Enhanced
Quality of Life
Regular physical activity can greatly
contribute to the improvement of
physical fitness and performance,
reduction of the incidence risk of some
occupational diseases, and as a
consequence, to a general improvement
of quality of life in terms of health status.
EXAMPLES:
BETTER MOOD AND MENTAL
HEALTH
IMPROVED PHYSICAL FITNESS
INCREASED SOCIAL INTERACTION
GREATER INDEPENDENCE
ENHANCED COGNITIVE FUNCTION
WHAT WILL BE THE IMPACT
OF PROPER NUTRITION?
It protects you against many chronic
noncommunicable diseases, such as heart
disease, diabetes and cancer. Eating a
variety of foods and consuming less salt,
sugars and saturated and industrially-
produced trans-fats, are essential for
healthy diet.
A HEALTHY DIET CAN

Week 3-4
what is physical fitness?
Physical fitness is when a person can
execute daily activities with maximum
performance, endurance, and strength. A
person that is physically fit can also
manage some health-related diseases,
exhaustion, and undue stress.
physical fitness test
Fitness assessments or Fitness
testing are a series of tests that measure
and monitor students' physical fitness
levels. It's a test designed to measure the
physical strength, agility, and endurance of
a person.

PRINCIPLE OF FITNESS AND TESTING

Fitness testing is a cornerstone in assessing

an individual's physical capabilities and
performance potential in sports, exercise, and
health sciences. It involves a series of tests
designed to measure various aspects of
physical fitness, such as strength, endurance,
flexibility, and power.
the efficacy of these tests hinges on four fundamental
principles:

• SPECIFICITY

• ACCURACY

• RELIABILITy

• VALIDITY

HEALTH RELATED
components focus on factors that
promote good health and prevent
the onset of disease and problems
associated with an activity. The four
components are described as
follows:
HEALTH RELATED
FITNESS
• Cardio- Vascular Endurance • Flexibility
- is how well your heart and lungs can - activities that improve the ability of a
supply the oxygen you need while you joint to maintain the movement
exercise at medium to high intensity. necessary for carrying out daily tasks and
physical activity.
• Muscular Strength
- is the amount of force you can put out
• Body Composition
or the amount of weight you can lift.
- is the ratio of body fat to lean body
• Muscular Endurance mase (including water, bones, muscles,
- is the ability of a muscle to and connective tissues). and Body Mass
make repeated contractions over Index (BMI) are one of the part of body
a period of time composition.
SKILL RELATED
includes training to improve
speed, agility, balance,
coordination, power, and
reaction time. These are usually
used to help athletes improve
performance for their particular
sport or activity. these are the
components:
SPEED
ability to perform a movement or cover a
distance in a short period of time.
Speed relates to power, as you have already
learnt, and relates to the force and the mass of
the object the force has acted upon.
SPEED:
POWER
ability to transfer energy into
force at a fast rate.
Power is considered to be a
combination of strength and
speed.
POWER:
coordination
the ability to use the senses
with the body parts perform
motor tasks smoothly and
accurately. Also the ability to
do what you think.
COORDINATION:
balance
the ability to distribute your
weight in a way that lets you
stand or move without falling,
or recover if you trip.
BALANCE:
agility
the ability to rapidly change
body direction, accelerate, or
decelerate. It is influenced by
balance, strength,
coordination, and skill level.
AGILITY:
reaction time
the amount of time that
takes places between when
we perceive something to
when we respond to it. It is
the ability to detect, process,
and respond to a stimulus.
