Abstract—This report presents a thorough wireless LAN site

survey and roaming capability analysis conducted at different
locations within a university building. The study aims to evaluate
the signal strength, identify roaming spots, and analyze the per-
formance of the Eduroam service. The findings provide insights
into the network’s coverage, roaming efficiency, and suggest
improvements for security, QoS, and overall user experience.
I. I NTRODUCTION
Wireless LANs are crucial for providing internet connec-
tivity in modern educational institutions. This study aims to
conduct a detailed site survey and analyze the roaming capa- heatmap1.png
bilities within a university building, focusing on five distinct
locations: classroom, self-study room, end of the hallway,
elevator hallway, and office.
II. M ETHODOLOGY
A. Tools and Applications
We utilized several tools for data collection and analysis,
including a Wi-Fi site survey application, speedtest-cli, ping,
and Wireshark. These tools enabled us to capture essential data
such as RSSI, SSID, 802.11 standard, security protocols, and
network performance metrics.

Data was collected at five specific locations within the

university building. The collected data includes wifi data.csv, B. Roaming Performance Measurements
