Electrician
Summary of Duties
Under the advice of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician is responsible for all planned & emergency
electrical maintenance of machines and equipment; ensures that there are enough spare parts and other materials
needed for repair and maintenance in the store.
Descriptions of Duties
1. Reads the past 8 or 24 hrs as the case may be, Electrical maintenance reports from the log book and daily report
formats or consults the previous shift maintenance crew for information about the process, machines condition
and performs any unfinished electrical maintenance tasks transferred from the previous shift;
2. Inspects all machines and checks their electrical conditions; ensures that the shift coordinator knows about the
electrical malfunction and informs the machine operator to stop the machine;
3. Inspects the parts, uses appropriate diagnostic techniques to determine the cause or causes of the malfunction
and does the actual repair job; follows up the proper functioning of the repaired or replaced item;
4. Ensures that all the planned and emergency maintenances properly performed as per the standard set by the
company;
5. Uses safe working practice and procedures at all times as per the safety policy of the company;
6. Participates in the planning of spare parts needed for electrical maintenance work;
7. Participates in the die change process and checks the disassembling, assembling and proper functioning of
heaters and thermocouples; and maintain those which are not working properly;
8. Checks the proper functioning of the lighting system at all times and repairs or makes improvements to those
not functioning well;
9. Determines the necessary spare part for the machine and equipment to be repaired and requests from the store
and/or discuss with the maintenance supervisor ;
10. Examines the replaced parts to check if they can be repaired or used for other purpose;
11. Records used spare parts and other maintenance details on the prepared formats on time;
12. Checks the stock for fast moving electrical parts in the store and informs the maintenance supervisor about the
situation;
13. Records the shift activities in the log book and briefs the substitute technician about same;
14. Records the shift activities on the prepared formats and briefs the substitute technician about same;
15. Maintains the working tools assigned to him/her properly and reports any loss or breakage to the maintenance
Supervisor;
16. Inspect machine conditions as per the check list on time;
17. Performs any other related duties as required.
