9. Once the blower motor has been started, LED lights will come on steady in the PLC panel. These are
air flow, air pressure and fan run. This means that air flow and air pressure are fully operational,

chronological order starting from placing the cabin in the correct Zone area at the rig site (where it is
certified to operate) to where it is ready to operated in a Zone 1 hazardous area. Hint: Imagine you are
sent to an MWD job, you have access to the different rig personnel who are responsible for some rig
utilities you will need (100psi rig air supply, electrical power supply, clean air supply and electrical
grounding/earthing attachment point) to properly rig up and operate the cabin. You may compile
your step-by-step guide/list on a 1-page PowerPoint presentation.

of turns anti-clockwise, and ensure that the number of counts return to the initial recorded
counts.

hazardous area junction box.
a) True
b) False
10. The SARA II box can be installed anywhere on the rig floor area. This is evident as the name
suggests: SARA II stands for Surface Area Remote Acquisition Generation II
a) True
b) False
Surface Hardware Exercise. Refer to the schematic diagram below.
Given a Dual Pressure Transducer (DPT) and Pump Noise Cancellation (PNC) job, label the green boxes
on the right hand side by identifying the correct sensor name and the corresponding rig component
you install the sensor onto. Identify also the correct junction box numbers by their line connections to
the SARA 2 Box in the middle of the schematic diagram. Examples are given (see where red arrows are
pointing – Examples 1 and 2). Note the already labeled 10-pin and 12-pin LEMO cables to guide you
through the labeling.
