ABOUT DEGREE PROGRAMS
The Degree programs, encompassing both First Degree and Higher Degree, offer
an immersive professional journey, enhancing specialized skills and expanding
knowledge across Engineering, Pharmacy, and interdisciplinary spheres. These
programs are based on the total number of units a student needs to complete,
rather than time.


First Degree students have a standard duration of eight semesters, including two
Practice School experiences: a two-month program after the fourth semester and a
six-month program later on. They can also pursue Minor Programmes in areas
such as Finance, Data Science, Computational Economics, Entrepreneurship, Supply
Chain Analytics, Physics, Management, Material Science and Engineering, Film and
Media, and Water and Sanitation.


Higher Degree students typically complete their programs in four semesters, with
the final semester devoted to either Dissertation or Practice School. There is an
option for a three-semester completion by starting dissertation work in the first
semester. The Practice School is a six-month industry hands-on program integral to
both Higher and First Degree programs.


BITS Pilani uses a 7-point grading system for all degrees, with a 1-point difference
between each successive grade. The lowest grade point is 2, and the highest is 10,
leading to an average grade point of 6.

1st place globally in Project Review in NASA HERC
2023 and are currently crafting a fully electric go-kart

have created a 100% Ethanol-fueled car in India.

The Student’s Union Technical Team develops the SU
app, with 5000+ users and handling transactions
worth 10+ crores annually. It offers services like
ordering from eateries, digitizing cab and print
services, and a second-hand e-commerce
marketplace. The StudyDeck platform, equipped with
1 TB of resources, eases academic life for BITSians.

The Department of Visual Media specializes in
developing websites and apps, handles traffic of 7,000+
users. It streamlines logistics, simplifies registrations,
and manages transactions worth Rs. 2.5+ crores across
platforms. It provides portals for other departments to
facilitate their work, ensuring the technological
cohesiveness of the fest.

The Google Developer Student Club and Coding Club
actively participate in competitions and camps like
Google-Summer Of Code. 2 teams qualified for the
ICPC regional 23/24 cycle, with 1 ranking 6th in the
ICPC Asia West Continent Final Contest and
proceeding to the ICPC World Finals. The team
secured 26th place in the 46th Annual World
Championship of ICPC.

BITS-ACM works towards developing a robust
environment for software and hardware development
on campus via special interest groups, lectures etc
while actively participating in coding competitions
such as ACM IPC throughout the year.

QUANT
Quant SIG promotes quantitative finance, crafting
research papers on Markowitz theory and Monte
Carlo simulation and is presently exploring Black-
Scholes-Merton for financial modeling. Quantaculus,
SAC's flagship event, tests problem-solving,
competitive programming, and quant analysis.
Drawing 600+ participants from India's top colleges,
it fosters a robust quant culture among students.

(JAF), detailing job roles, qualifications, compensation

An SPOC from our Placement Unit will coordinate with the
company to discuss and finalize the schedule and logistics
