Class Activity on Furniture Design
Read the Following Problem Statement Completely and Carefully
After carrying out the colour and texture management, then the next important stage in the
interior design is of Furniture Design. This particular project is given to you for understanding
how to design a space saving and multipurpose furniture using moulded/folded furniture for
the rooms which you have designed in the project 1. You have to submit your project in two
parts first part will comprise of 2D drawings showing Elevation, Plan and Side View of the
designed furniture with ALL THE DETAILED DIMENSIONS WITH MINUTE
DETAILS of thicknesses of ply wood, sunmica, veneer, all the internal and external
dimensions of drawers, etc. in ALL THE THREE VIEWS such that it is ready to execute
by the carpenter. The second part comprises of 3D isometric view of the furniture using
Google Sketch-up or Homestyler.com showing the colour and texture of polish, sunmica or
any other laminates and with similar three views- Front and Side Elevations and Plan. The
guidelines for this project on space management are as follows: -
Guidelines for the project on Space Management:
1. Every Student has to design independently one single but multipurpose furniture
unit (Tables, Sofa Cum Bed and beds with storage must not be used in this project,
as they are NOT multipurpose in real sense). The Furniture must be fitting in the
same room which you have designed in your Project 2.
2. Show the all the dimensions and names for the components for the designed furniture.
3. Save your file as pdf and upload to MS Teams as a single file with front page of given
format.
4. Normally, tables and beds come with storage under them, so they are single purpose
units. Therefore, they should not be used for designing a furniture in this class activity
