5 Selecting equipment to be updated


Select in the “Equipment” pull-down menu and check
that the IP address (initial value: 172.16.60.124) of the equipment is displayed in “Equipment IP”.

When the IP address of JLN-740 has been changed due to the


installation condition, enter the IP address after the change.

When is not
displayed in the “Equipment” pull-down menu, the tool may not be
the JLN-740 update tool. Restart the update tool for JLN-740 as
indicated in Figure 4.1-1.

4.5.6 Acquiring a software list from the equipment
After inputting the IP address of the equipment, acquire a list of software to be updated in the
equipment by clicking on . When the software list is acquired correctly, the dialogue that is
shown below is displayed.

After correct acquisition of a software list, the target software names and the versions are displayed in
a list. If the software to be updated does not exist in the equipment in such a case where optional
equipment is not connected due to the installation condition, “(Ver. Unknown)” is displayed.

The version number of the screen capture is the one currently


under development. Since the version number may be different
from the one that is currently operating in the product, replace the
number as required.

When a correct update file is selected, the information of the selected file is displayed in “Update file”,
“Version”, and “Information”, and is enabled.

Click on to start updating.
Update processing progresses in the order of Transmission→Update→Reboot and the progress
status is displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the window.

Transmit the update file that was specified in the update tool to the equipment. It takes about
1 minute.

In this case, the “Updating software” dialogue is displayed on the main display.

After completion of the transmission, the flash ROM is rewritten. It takes about 1 minute.
In this case, the “Updating software” dialogue remains displayed on the main display.

4.6 Updating an application of CDF-7400 (JLN-740)

This section describes the procedure for updating an application of a signal processor IF circuit
(CDF-7400) by using the remote update function.

The procedure for updating the application by directly connecting a personal computer with the signal
processor without using the remote update function is described in Section 4.12.

4.6.1 Connecting a maintenance PC to the equipment


See below for the conceptual diagram for connecting a maintenance PC tool and the equipment. For
the details of the connection procedure, refer to the Installation Manual.

4.6.2 Setting a network


For the details, refer to Section 4.2.

In this manual, the explanation is provided based on the


assumption that the IP address of the maintenance PC is set to
“172.16.60.200”. Replace the IP address according to the personal
computer that is used.

4.6.4 Inputting the interface setting


To use the remote update function in JLN-740, select in the “Interface” combo box and select
in the pull-down menu.
In this case, check that “PC IP” and “Mask” match the network setting (Section 4.2) of the
maintenance PC.

When the maintenance PC has multiple LAN adapters, select the adapter of the maintenance PC that
is connected to the equipment from the “Adapter” pull-down menu.

After completing the setting up to this stage, click on . If the setting is correct, the dialogue
that is shown in Figure 4.6-1 is displayed and changes to .

Since internal preparation is required prior to the updating of the software in the signal processor, a
wait time of about 10 seconds is necessary. In the update tool, the display indicates as if the signal
processor is rebooting during the wait time. However, the processor is not rebooting.

Initially, the update file that is specified in the update tool is transmitted to the equipment. It takes
about 3 minutes.

4.7 Updating an application of CDC-7400 (JLN-740)

This section describes the procedure for updating an application of a signal processor processing
circuit (CDF-7400) by using the remote update function.

The procedure for updating the application by directly connecting a personal computer with the signal
processor without using the remote update function is described in Section 4.13.

This section describes the procedure for updating FPGA data of a signal processor processing circuit
(CDC-7400) by using the remote update function.

The procedure for updating FPGA data by directly connecting a personal computer with the signal
processor without using the remote update function is described in Section 4.14.

4.9.9 Update file of a remote display (NWZ-650SDR)

Many types of update files (extension: *.jrc) are available for a remote display (NWZ-650SDR) and an
appropriate file must be selected according to the installation condition.

Display the menu by selecting “MENU”→ “SDME ADV”→ “MANAG NUMB” of a remote display
(NWZ-650SDR) at installation and select a file from the five types of software control number avoiding
duplication within the equipment.

using the remote update function.

4.10.9 Update file of a remote display (NWZ-840SDR)

Many types of update files (extension: *.jrc) are available for a remote display
(NWZ-650SDR/840SDR) and an appropriate file must be selected according to the installation
condition.

Display the menu by selecting “MENU”→ “SDME ADV”→ “MANAG NUMB” of a remote display
(NWZ-650SDR/840SDR) at installation and select a file from the five types of software control number

4.11 Updating an application of NWZ-510SDW (JLN-741)

This section describes the procedure for updating an application of a main display (NWZ-510SDW) by
using micro SD cards.

JLN-741 does not have a remote update function.

4.11.1 Checking the equipment configuration


When updating an application of a main display (NWZ-510SDW) by using micro SD cards, it is not
necessary to change the equipment configuration.

Prepare two micro SD cards. Refer to Sections 4.11.2 and 4.11.3 for rewriting the internal data of the
two micro SD cards.
