Number are defined as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 which are
Integer Numbers:-
called digit.
Integers are all rational numbers which do not have a
decimal or fractional part. They include positive as well
as negative numbers.

Positive integers  (1, 2, 3, 4, .........)
Real ¼okLrfod½ Imaginary ¼dkYifud½ Negative integers  (-1, -2, -3, -4, .......)
Fractional numbers:-

Natural number:-
The numbers of counting are called natural numbers.
Prime number Composite number

generally denoted by 'N'.
Whole numbers:-
Rational number:- Whole numbers are a set of all positive integers. They
are generally denoted by 'W'.
A rational number is a number than can be expressed in
W  0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ......... 
p
the form of q , where p, q  z (i.e. p and q belong Even numbers:-
All natural numbers that are divisible by 2 are even
to integers) & q  0 . numbers. eq. 2, 4, 6, 8, ..........
Odd numbers:-

Prime numbers:- Arithmatic Progression:-
Numbers that are only divisible by 1 and the number it a, a+d, a+2d, a+3d,..........

numbers greater than 1. eg.- 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 d = difference
1 is neither prime nor composite, 2 is the only even = (second term - first term)

Composite numbers:-

Those numbers that are not prime are composite (excluding

Geometric Progression:-

Thus a composite number is divisible by at least 3 different a, ar, ar 2 , ar 3 , .........
natural numbers.
