I have participated in the tree sapling plantation event organized by St. Peters
Development Society in Suryapet, Telangana. This started from 1st June 2024 with
the aim of increasing the green cover of the town and to create awareness about
environment.
On the first day I joined a group of volunteers and learned about tree planting and how
to plant saplings. It was nice to see different native tree species and their benefits to
the local environment.
St. Peters Development Society has made good progress since the event started. The
society first identified the locations for planting considering soil quality, water
availability and long-term growth. They purchased native tree saplings from local
nurseries to ensure they are suitable for the climate of the region.
Volunteers including myself are planting the saplings using proper techniques to
increase the survival rate. A regular watering schedule has been set to ensure the
saplings get enough water during their critical growth period.
The tree plantation event will go on till 6th July 2024. In the coming weeks the society
plans to expand the plantation area by planting more saplings in designated areas to
increase the green cover of the surroundings. We also conducted awareness programs
to educate the people about tree care and to encourage them to participate in future
tree planting events. A long-term plan is being made to monitor the planted saplings
and provide them necessary care to ensure their survival and growth.
I’m happy to be a part of this event. Nice to see the community coming together for
environment. I will continue to support this and see the good impact on my
surroundings.
