1) Nationality: A person who is either ① or ② of the following:

① Applicants must be non-Korean citizens with non-Korean parents.
※ Applicants who are stateless or hold multiple nationalities including Korean citizenship are ineligible to apply as
international students.
※ If an applicant or the applicant’s parents do NOT hold foreign nationalities by birth, then the applicant must submit proof
of their renunciation or loss of South Korean(ROK) nationality in pursuit of another nation’s citizenship. (Note: in this case
where an applicant and his/her parents all had acquired foreign nationality before the applicant’s entrance to high school.)
② A foreign applicant or a Korean national residing abroad who has completed education equivalent to that of Korean primary
education to Bachelor’s degree in foreign countries.
※ In case of ②, an applicant who has completed even one program at a Korean school during his/her entire education
course is not eligible to apply.

2) Academic background
※ Applicants’ academic degree must be from official and authorized educational institution recognized by Ministry of Education
of the applicant’s own country.
※ Any school qualification exams taken in Korea or foreign countries, such as via home-schooling, GED, adult education or
language schools for primary education to Master’s degree are not deemed as a regular school curriculum.
① Master’s degree: an applicant who holds any of the following qualifications:
(1) An applicant who has obtained a Bachelor’s degree or is expected to receive it before enrollment from a domestic or
foreign university.
(2) An applicant who is recognized to have an academic background that is in equivalence to the aforementioned, according
to the Korean educational law.
② Doctor’s degree: an applicant who holds any of the following qualifications:
(1) An applicant who has obtained a Master’s degree or is expected to receive it before enrollment from a domestic or
foreign university.
(2) An applicant who is recognized to have an academic background that is in equivalence to the aforementioned, according

② If the payment is not completed during the application period, the application will be automatically rescinded.
③ When the application payment is completed, then an application number will be provided to the applicant. Once application
materials have been printed, the online application process is finished and no changes will be permitted(such as changes
related to the fields of study etc) and cancellation will be impossible.

Scholarships for International Students

1) For Doctoral Degree : Full-tuition. Recipients will be selected according to scholastic ranks in each department.
2) For Master’s degree : Half-tuition. Recipients will be selected according to scholastic ranks in each department.
※ Recipients of outside scholarships are not eligible to receive any intramural scholarships that waive tuition fees

Dormitory Application
① Applicants must apply for a dormitory during the designated application period.

Important Notes for All Applicants

• This guideline is only for the international applicants applying for the full time Master`s and Ph. D programs at the
University of Seoul.
• In case of the applicants who want to apply to a graduate program of Professional Graduate School or Special
Graduate School, please refer to the respective admission guidelines.

1) Eligibility
① Applicants must meet all admission requirements. (nationality, academic background and la nguage proficiency)
②  Applicants who are stateless or hold multiple citizenships alongside their Korean citizenship are ineligible to apply as international students.
③  If an applicant or the applicant’s parents do NOT hold foreign nationalities by birth, then the applicant must submit proof of their
renunciation or loss of South Korean (ROK) citizenship in pursuit of another nation’s citizenship. (Only permitted case where an
applicant and their parents all had acquired foreign citizenship before the applicant’s entrance into high school.)
④  Any school qualification exams taken in Korea or foreign countries, such as via home-schooling, GED, adult education or language
schools, are not considered as regular school curriculum.

2) Basic Notices for Submission of Documents

① After the online application is completed on the Uway Apply website, print out the UOS’s forms (letter of self-introduction and
study plan, etc.) from the OIA website and submit all the required admission materials via post to the OIA office.
② All supporting documents must be originals.
③ All documents must be issued within 1 year from the deadline for the online application. (As for Bank Statement – within 30 days)
④ All documents must be written in Korean or English. Applicants who submit documents written in foreign languages (other than
Korean or English) should attach the English or Korean notarized translations of the original documents.
※ Except an avoidable case, notarized translation should be done by an authorized office located in the country where the documents
are originated from.
※ Arrange original hard copy before notarial translated one.
※ Applicants’ own translation will not be accepted.
⑤ The spelling of the name written in English of all documents must correspond to the name on the applicant’s passport.
⑥ Submitted documents will not be returned. Submission documents may be added or subtracted as required.
⑦ The applicant is responsible for any disadvantages caused by a mistake or omission in the documents. If the submitted documents
don’t meet the minimum requirement, the applicant will be excluded from the document evaluation.
⑧ Submitted documents will not be returned. We encourage applicants to prepare enough additional documents for visa application
in advance.

3) Admission Proceedings
① Please write your available contact information (phone number(s), email address(es), etc.) on the application form.
University of Seoul does not have a liability for any disadvantages caused by contact issue at all.
② Information on admission scores will not be disclosed.
③ For application form and all the submitted documents, if any falsifications, counterfeits, falsified statements, degree from
unauthorized educational institution by Ministry of Education of the applicant’s own country and other unjust actions be disclosed,
an applicant would be rescinded. In case that such disclosures are identified, even after admission, the acceptance of admission
will be canceled and paid tuition fees will not be refunded.

4) After Admission
① Among the applicants who have accepted admission, those who do not graduate from or are expected to finish their school (by
the time when they apply) must submit their final certificate of degree and their final transcripts to the OIA coordinator before the
semester begins. If the documents are not submitted, admission will be rescinded. However, it will be exceptionally accepted only
when the time difference of academic schedule between applicants’ nation and Korea is less than one month.
② After receiving the certificate of admission, if applicants residing outside Korea encounter difficulty obtaining their visa and fails to
arrive in South Korea before the semester begins, admission will be rescinded automatically with the certificate of admission being
invalidated.
③ After the final admission process, the OIA may require an applicant’s highest school for his/her academic records based on the
Agreement of Academic Records Request submitted by the applicant. In case that the confirmation certificate is not received in six
months, an applicant by himself/herself must contact the school he/she graduated from and submit the official academic records.
If the school fails to submit the applicant’s official academic records, admission will be rescinded.

① Schedule and content may be changed according to the university’s policies.

③ This application guide is originally written in Korean and then translated to other languages. If there are any disparities on the
