In order to shift gear, an air pressure of at least 6.5 bar is
required. Below this level, attempts to shift gears will be
unsuccessful. Unsuccessful attempts to shift gear are stored
by the electronic system as faults.

Transmission with EAS (Electronic Automated Shifting)
(Z 170 876, Z 170 884)
The electronic system automatically activates the clutch when
the crane is driven (e.g. when starting, manoeuvring, changing
gear, stopping etc.). A fault in the automatic clutch control is
indicated by indicator light (78, H 307) "fold out emergency
clutch pedal". At the same time, the warning buzzer sounds.
Folding out the emergency clutch pedal, see page 27/39.
7.2 Operating Modes
(Z 170 876)
The driver can switch between automatic and manual operating
modes using switch (8). The operating mode can also be
changed during driving.
Automatic operating mode (switch position A)
(Z 170 876)
In the automatic operating mode, the optimum gear is
calculated and selected in relation to the driving condition,
accelerator pedal position, operating condition of the engine
etc. The electronic system automatically controls the clutch
actuation and gear change.
Manual operating mode (switch position M)
(Z 170 876)
In the manual operating mode, in addition the functions of the
gear selection can be selected by the electronic system (GS
selection) or by the driver (driver selection). The electronic
system automatically controls the clutch actuation and the gear
change.

Hydraulic Suspension 11
11.1 Suspension Circuits
(Z 170 732)
AilS axles of the crane have hydraulic suspension.
The hydraulic suspension system consists of 3 suspension
circuits:
- Suspension circuit I - Axles 1 and 2
- Suspension circuit II - Axles 3,4 and 5, left
- Suspension circuit III - Axles 3, 4 and 5, right
The control elements for the hydraulic suspension system are
housed in the dash panel.
