Project Proposal: Upcycling Plastic Bottles into Signage and Trash bins for Bato National High

School

This proposal outlines a project aimed at addressing the issue of plastic waste in Bato National
High School by transforming used materials into functional and aesthetically pleasing signage and
trash bins. This initiative promotes sustainability, environmental consciousness, and community
engagement.

Plastic waste poses a significant environmental threat, contributing to pollution, landfill

overcrowding, and wildlife harm. Bato National High School, like many institutions, generates a
considerable amount of plastic waste, particularly from bottled beverages. This project aims to
reduce this waste and create a more sustainable environment within the school.

Project Objectives:

• Reduce plastic waste: By upcycling plastic bottles, the project will divert them from landfills and
reduce the school's environmental footprint.

• Create functional and aesthetically pleasing signage and trash bins: The project will produce
durable and visually appealing signage and trash bins for various areas within the school.

• Promote environmental awareness: The project will raise awareness among students, faculty,
and staff about plastic waste and its impact on the environment.

• Foster community engagement: The project will involve students and staff in the achievement
of this project

Project Activities

• Collection and Sorting: Organize a plastic bottle collection, separating bottles by color and type.

• Design and Planning: Collaborate with students in our group to design functional and visually
appealing signage and trash bins.

• Construction: Utilize readily available materials such as plywood, illustrations boards, plastic
cover, and plastic bottles to construct the signage and trash bins.

• Installation: Install the finished products in designated areas within the school.

5. Project Timeline

• Phase 1: Collection, sorting, and initial design planning.

• Phase 2: Construction of signage and trash bins.

• Phase 3: Installation and educational campaign.

6. Project Budget

The project budget will be primarily sourced from student contributions. The budget will cover
materials, and tools.

Project Evaluation:

The project's success will be evaluated based on:

• Quantity of plastic bottles collected and upcycled.

• Student and staff participation and engagement.

• Positive feedback from the school community.

• Reduced plastic waste within the school.

This project offers a practical and impactful solution to the issue of plastic waste in Bato National
High School. By transforming used plastic bottles into functional and aesthetically pleasing
signage and trash cans, the project will promote sustainability, environmental awareness, and
community engagement. The project's success will contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more
sustainable school environment.
