Advocate’s background
Work responsibilities
During the entire period of my internship, I was entrusted with a myraid of tasks, including legal
research, drafting assignment, client interaction and some clerical work as well.
Legal research
I had the opportunity to employ my research skills on various occasions during the training
period. Some of those occasion, sir gave me topics just to pick my mind or aiming as broadening
my own knowledge spectrum and else it was a formal delegation of tasks.
I recall once I was asked to look up…limitation act.
The other time, Magistrate Court passed order in which we have got summoned on basis of SIT
report as an accused under forgery sections. We went for revison and in the sessions court when
that SIT report was seen then it was found that there is no such relevant evidence against us and
that was not the exact SIT report. Then the opposite counsel had moved an application for
Summoning SIT report. We were asked to research supporting the argument that no new thing
could be summoned by the revision court, revision will be decided in the light of the record from
the lower court because of which i was summoned.
Then I recall once, sir was caught up in the bail application proceeding, it was an anticipatory
bail and the person pertaining to whom such relief was to be granted had almost 20 cases against
him, some of which were quashed, most acquitted, a few where the ‘person’ was not even
summoned and for the rest we were on bail. The good part was that the ‘person’ had not been to
jail even once. So we were supposed to support our argument with a case wherein we had to put
forth that even a person with criminal history can be granted anticipatory bail.

Courtroom Experiences
Learnt:-
1. Mannerism and etiquettes of court
The first thing that a newcomer like me observe s entering the code promises and the courtroom
is that our act, behaviour, speech, looks, etc All have to comply with the acceptable professional
code.
With respect to the honorable judges there, I learned that we have to have a subdued tone, while
we talk to the judge, our overall gestures should be in compliance with that. I learned that we are
not supposed to Show our backs to the judges and when we leave the courtroom we are supposed
to bow.
2. Procedural formalities
i. With respect to sequence of documents

Reflections
Through this internship I have earned both skill-wise and emotionally as well. Being a woman
especially I am usually quite emotional in my personal space, professionally I am how I am
required to be yet sometimes I find my personal aspect of personality to be affecting me
somewhere while working as well. I had always been aware about how seeing the reality out
there, the plight of people for justice and other aspects of it might make me vulnerable but as a
result of this training what I have understood is that by facing what I had been subconsiosly
afraid of has actually made me stronger. Moreover, something that sir said gives me further
strngth and sort of makes me free of my emotional bondage and
