Working in Overhauling of Steam Turbine and of various MW(210, 500, 600, 660) Of
BHEL manufacturer under Supervision of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.
RESPONSIBILITIES AS PER VARIOUS EQUIPMENT
STEAM TURBINE
• Perform complete maintenance, repair and overhaul of steam turbine(HP, IP,LP),
auxiliary turbines and related equipment, including governors, bearings, couplings,
main oil pump, over speed tripping mechanisms, turbine diaphragms and related
equipment’s.
• Preparing needed tools to perform overhauling before dismantling.
• Recording all initial readings, measuring before dismantling equipment.
• Recording precision reading – Elongation, References of Casing and Rotor, Bearing
S.o.c and T.o.c, Rotor Float, Bump, Alignment of Mop – Turbine and Generator -
Turbine, Coupling run-out, Swing check, Steam Flow Path, Ovality of Casings,
Bearing Bore and Height of Steam Turbine by using Vernier Calipers, Inside and
Outside Micrometer, Depth Micrometers, Gauge Blocks, Dial indicators, Feeler
Gauge, Taper Gauge and related maintenance equipment.
• Replacing and making height for sealing strip’s(fins) of HP, IP rotors and labyrinth
seals.
• Centering of Rotor – Casing and Gland – Rotor, making Coupling Run-out and
Alignment within a tolerated margin.
• Dismantle/assemble and replace of thrust and journal bearings.
• Install and inspect base structure to rest HP casing vertical and horizontal while
overhauling, Assembling essential devices to pull out inner casing.
• Reblading of L.P turbine rotor, doing DP, locking pins and lock plate.
• Keeping the workplace in an organized and clean condition.
• Completing all duties according to applicable safety measures and published
procedures, environment friendly and efficient manner.
PUMPS/BLOWER/FANS
Hands on experience with manufacturer of– Lube oil pump of bhel turbine, Flowserve,
Franco Tosi, Andritz, Fapmo, Ensival Moret, Emica, Torishma, Engersoll Rand, Vanton Pump,
Düchting Pumps, Indar Pumps.
• Disassembles broken, damaged, and defective pumps to facilitate repair and
reassemble when repairs are complete. Centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, and
reciprocating.
• Inspect and changing of bearings to achieve smooth running and to prevent
Mechanical Seal, Shaft, Wear ring and Impeller damages. Tilting pad/white metal
thrust bearings, Roller, Ball bearings.
• Replacing and repairing Mechanical seal.
• Checking Run-out of the pump shaft while initial assembly.
• Making oil pockets/slope and inspecting size of new Thrust bearings using scrapper,
micrometer and dial indicator to achieve Float for the shaft.
• Rectifying the Pump-Motor alignment and vibration analysis to prolong life. such as
pumps, compressors, blowers (Rim and face, reverse method)
• Installing new Pumps, Motor to the base and it’s auxiliary equipments.
• Perform routine, preventative maintenance and lubrication to all pumps and
rotating equipment.
• Keeping an up to date inventory of mechanical tools
BAND SCREEN ( WATER SCREENING EQUIPMENT)
• Changing and inspecting of rollers, bush, pins, wash water nozzle, mesh and seal to
get proper working equipment and filtration of sea water from unwanted solid
particles.
• Aligning sprocket wheel shaft.
• Changing bearings and sprocket wheel’s chain link.
• Lubricating gears, gear reducer, bearings.
VALVE
• Assembly, disassembly, calibration, seat or disk lapping, fixing gland leakage,
blue contact checking, hydrostatic testing, troubleshooting, mounting basic
instrumentation and accessories of standard and complex valves. Control valve,
manual valve.
