Abortion is a very controversial topic here in the Philippines because of the cultural and

religious beliefs that pervade Filipino society. The Catholic Church has a significant influence on

many Filipinos, teaching that life begins at conception. This belief is deeply embedded in

cultural traditions, leading many to oppose abortion on moral grounds. As a result, discussions

around abortion often evoke strong emotions, making it challenging to engage in constructive

dialogue about reproductive rights and health.

I am pro abortion as I believe that everyone should have the right to choose whether to

have an abortion. This issue is really about personal choice, health, and fairness. It’s important

that we let people decide what is best for their bodies, especially in tough situations. Every

person should have the right to make decisions about their own body, including whether to

continue or end a pregnancy. This is especially important for victims of rape. Imagine how hard

it would be for someone to carry a child that was conceived through such a terrible experience.

Forcing a rape survivor to have that baby can cause even more pain and trauma. Abortion

should be an option for those who need it, allowing them to take back control of their lives.

Access to safe and legal abortion is also important for health. When abortion is illegal or hard to

get, people may try unsafe methods to end their pregnancies. This can lead to serious health

problems or even death. The World Health Organization says that unsafe abortions are a big

cause of maternal deaths around the world. By making sure people can get safe abortions, we

help protect their health and well-being.

We also have to think about the impact of unwanted pregnancies on people's lives.

Many people who seek abortions do so because they feel they are not ready to be parents

whether they are not emotionally prepared, not physically ready, or not financially stable.

Forcing someone to have a baby they don’t want can put a lot of stress on them and make it

harder for them to support themselves and their families. This can lead to more poverty and

limit their chances for education and work. Abortion gives individuals the chance to focus on

their goals and dreams without the added burden of an unplanned pregnancy. It’s also
important to recognize that not everyone has the same access to healthcare. People from

low-income backgrounds and communities of color often face more challenges in getting the

care they need. Restrictions on abortion hit these groups the hardest, making it even more

difficult for them to get help. Supporting abortion rights isn’t just about personal choice; it’s

also about making sure everyone has fair access to healthcare. Some people argue against

abortion based on their personal beliefs. However, we must remember that everyone has

different views on morality. What one person believes is right might not be the same for

someone else. Legalizing abortion allows different beliefs to coexist while focusing on the health

and rights of individuals. We need to respect everyone’s situation and recognize that each

person’s circumstances are unique.

In conclusion, supporting abortion rights is important for protecting personal choice,

health, and fairness. The decision to have an abortion is a personal one and should be made by

the individual without outside pressure. By advocating for safe and legal access to abortion

services, we support the idea that everyone has the right to make choices about their own

bodies and futures. In a society that values freedom and equality, it’s essential that we stand up

for everyone’s right to choose.
