Paper Exemption Application for ]uly-December 2024 Session

Notice is hereby given that the deserving students of the Chartered Secretary
course may apply for paperf sabject exemption. As such, eligible applicants from
54m batchof the Chartered Secretary course (Dhaka Campus) are advised to
submit applications for paper/subject exemption in a formal application form
enclosed hereunder by the deadline 08 October 2024.

The list of required documents is mentioned in serial number 6 of the enclosed


form. All applications will be verified and assessed according to ICSB Exemption
Policy. The authority deseryes the right to accept or reject any application.

Please note that classes of the respective paper (applied for exemption) should
continue till the exemption result being published. The eligible students need
to pay exemption fee for the exempted paper(s). For more information,
concerned students may contact the Education Department of ICSB.

Instructions
1. Exemption may be allowed for subjects completed in other institutions/ universities which are equivalent corresponding subject(s) of ICSB;
2. Exemptions of Foundation Level/ Particular Foundation Course:
• Graduates from Commerce Background with 6 points (to be calculated as per the given chart in the Exemption Policy) are eligible for exemption from Foundation Level subjects.
• Eligible graduates from other disciplines who have studied aforesaid subject(s) in graduation level may also apply for exemption. They must have studied the below-mentioned subject(s) having a result
with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA:
o Business Communication;
o Business Economics and Statistics;
o Fundamentals of Accounting & Auditing; and
o Business Management Ethics and Entrepreneurship.
(Any other subject included in foundation level through syllabus change)
• Non-Graduate SSC & HSC Students or Equivalent (For English Medium: O-Level & A-Level) will not be eligible to get any exemption.
3. Exemption for University Graduates:
• The course content (Syllabus) of the subjects completed at the graduation and post-graduation level should match at least 75% of the corresponding ICSB paper to meet the eligibility for exemption;
• Students must obtain at least ‘B Grade’ (60% to 65% Marks) under the Uniform Grading System of the UGC for all public and private universities to apply for exemption from a particular paper;
• Students from listed universities/ education institutes are eligible for exemption.
4. Exemptions for the Members of Other Recognized Professional Body:
• Qualified Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants – ACCA (UK), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – CIMA (UK), Certified Public Accountant – CPA (USA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or any other equivalent
foreign professional education body may be granted exemption on different subjects.
• Members of such professional body will get an exemption from the corresponding subject(s) of ICSB that matches with the subjects taught in the professional degree.
• In all cases, original certificates and transcripts of the Bachelor Degree and Master Degree, and the Membership Certificate of the professional degree needs to be shown and a new set of photocopy of
the same to be submitted to the ICSB office for verification.
5. Students will not get exemption from any subject of the Certificate Level III, Professional Level-1 and Professional Level-2 unless there is any reciprocal agreement between ICSB and the concerned Institution;
6. Students who are eligible for exemption on corresponding ICSB subjects shall have to apply in the prescribed Exemption Form (Annexure-1) along with copies of original certificates and transcripts of all
academic degrees along with the copy of syllabus (course contents) attested by the Registrar or authorized person of the Education Institution. In case of graduates from foreign Institutions, relevant papers will be
verified directly through email and their equivalence certificate issued by the UGC to be submitted also
7. The Education Department will thoroughly scrutinize the exemption applications; copies of academic certificates, transcripts/marks sheets, course contents and other relevant papers. After scrutinizing, the
Education Department will forward the suitable applications to the Council for final approval;
8. Documents submitted with the Exemption Application Form will not be returned to the student.
9. Use CAPITAL letters while filling in the form. Do not overwrite. Carefully check that Student’s ID, Course Code, Course Title, are correctly written.
10. Students applied for subject exemption are advised to continue their regular classes till the approval of the subject exemption; and
11. Students must pay the Exemption Fee or full course fees along with examinations fees recommended by the Education Committee and subsequently approved by the Council.
12. ICSB holds the authority to change the Exemption Policy as and when required.
