CY1250 Cygnet Aran

Newborn Baby Bear Crochet set

You Will need –

4.50 mm and 6.00 mm Crochet Hooks

1 x 100g Ball of Cygnet Aran in Denim 185 or Cream 288

Large Eye Darning Needle

25 mm Wooden button

Pattern Notes

UK Terminology used

The CH 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch, always work back down into the 1st
stitch of the row, unless otherwise stated

For the Hat and mitten’s we will use a single Strand of Yarn and the 4.50mm Hook

For the Booties, we will use 2 Strands held together with the 6.00 mm hook.
Abbreviations –

MR – Magic Ring CH - Chain

TC - Treble Crochet SK – Skip

FPTC – Front Post Treble Crochet SS - Slip Stitch

BPTC – Back post Treble Crochet REP - Repeat

HTC – Half Treble Crochet ST – stitch

HTC2TOG – Half Treble Crochet 2 Together BET - Between

TC2TOG - Treble Crochet 2 Together REM - Remaining

TC3TOG - Treble Crochet 3 Together T - Turn your work

NXT - Next SP – Space

Work in rounds, do not turn

With the 4.50 mm Hook, Make a Magic Ring

Row 1 – In the ring / CH 1 / 10 TC / SS to 1st TC

EARS

Leave a Tail of at least 4-5 inches at each end, to attach Ears onto the hat later.

With the 4.5 mm Hook, Make a Magic Ring

Row 1 – In the ring / CH 1 / 8 TC (8)

Row 2 – CH 1 / T / 2 X TC in every ST (16)

Row 3 – CH 1 / T / HTC in every ST (16)

Fasten off.

To Attach ears to hat, take the Strand of yarn from the magic ring and attach to a darning needle.

Weave this strand along to the outer edge of the ear and tie a double knot to the other strand to secure.

The ear should now be cinched together.

Use these two strands to whip stitch the ears onto the top of the hat.

Sew on Button, weave in all ends.

MITTENS

With the 4.50 mm Hook, Make a Magic Ring

Row 1 – In the ring / CH 1 / 10 TC / SS to 1st TC
