ASSERTION REASON QUESTIONS
4. Assertion(A): A bag contains slips numbered from 1 to 100. If Fatima chooses a slip at
random from the bag, it will either be an odd number or an even number. Since this
1
situation has only two outcomes, the probability of each is .
2
Reason (R): When we toss a coin, there are two possible outcomes: head or tail. Therefore,
1
the probability of each outcome is .
2
5. Assertion(A): If P(E) = 0.20, then the probability of ‘not E’ is 0.80.
5
Reason (R): If two dice are thrown together, then the probability of getting a doublet is .
6
6. Assertion (A): If the probability of an event is x, then the probability of its complementary
event will be 1 – 𝑥.
1 4
Reason (R): If 𝑥 = then its complementary event will be .

SHORT/LONG ANSWER TYPE QUESTIONS
7. A die is thrown once. What is the probability of getting a prime number?
8. A game consists of tossing a coin 3 times and noting the outcome each time, if getting the
same result in all the tosses is a success, find the probability of losing the game.
9. The probability of selecting a blue marble at random from a jar that contains only blue,
1
black and green marbles is . The probability of selecting a black marble at random from
5
1
the same jar is . If the jar contains 11 green marbles, find the total number of marbles in
4
the jar.
10. An integer is chosen between 70 and 100. Find the probability that it is
(i) a prime number (ii) divisible by 7.
11. Two different dice are thrown together. Find the probability that the number obtained.
(i) have a sum less than 7. (ii) have a product less than 16. (iii) is a doublet of odd
numbers.
12. A box contains 125 shirts out of which 110 are good 12 have minor defects and 3 have
major defects Ram Lal will buy only those shirts which are good while Naveen will reject
only those which have major defects. A shirt is taken out at random from the box. Find the
probability that:
(i) Ram Lal will buy it. (ii) Naveen will buy it.
CASE BASED QUESTIONS
13. Nishant and Kapil are playing a game of darts. They use this dart board.
Here are the rules of the game: When your dart is placed in any circular region, you get the
points mentioned in that region. If your dart strikes outside the circles you get zero points.

During the game all the darts of both Nishant and Kapil fall in the circular region. The
radius of the innermost circle is 7 cm and the width of all other circular regions is 7
(i) Nishant throws the first dart. What is the probability of Nishant getting a score of 100 in
the first throw
OR
Kapil threw a dart which hit the board. What is the probability of the dart hitting the
outermost circular region on the board?
(ii) In the first three throws Nishant gets 75 points in two throws and 100 points in the third
throw. What is the probability of Nishant getting a 75 in the next throw?
(iii) What is a probability of Kapil getting a score 25 point in first throw?
14. In a club men are playing the card game. A man named Ramesh draw a card from a well-
shuffled deck of cards.

(i) Find the probability of getting a king of red colour.

OR
Find the probability of getting a face card.
(ii) Find the probability of getting a jack of hearts.
(iii) Find the probability of getting a spade card.
