Dear Friends of Mill Hill

Missionaries,

As we journey closer to the end

of year 2024, I am delighted to
share with you the highlights of
a year filled with blessings,
challenges, and growth. This
newsletter reflects our
missionary journey across East
Africa Region, guided by the Holy
Spirit and uplifted by your
unwavering support. As Mill Hill Missionaries, we
continue to be strengthened by your prayers,
encouragement, and contributions. Together, we strive
toward a future filled with hope, compassion, and service.

October, the Mission Month, brought us together under

the powerful theme chosen by Pope Fran- cis: “Go and
Invite Everyone to the Banquet.” This message resonates
deeply with our mission work, as we strive to reach out to
all, sharing the love of Christ across communities. From
the bustling streets of Kampala to the shores of Malindi,
our work in the spirit of Synodality brings people closer to
God, united in faith and love. This month, we celebrate

our missionary past and present, confident that the
Holy Spirit continues to guide our steps forward.

This year has been marked by moments of both joy and

sorrow. We remember with deep gratitude the life of
our beloved young missionary, Rev. Fr. Joseph
Okwara, who was called to eternal rest. His passing was a
great loss, but we are comforted by the outpouring of
support from all of you during his funeral. In contrast,
we rejoiced in the ordination of Rev. Fr. John Peter
Othieno, who was sent to Pakistan on October 8th to
render missionary service. We also celebrated the
Silver Jubilee of Rev. Fr. Michael Ochwo on September
7th, a missionary whose joyful spirit of self-reliance
reminds us to always “stand on our two feet.” Our
journey this year included the Society Assembly in
Maidenhead, where we reflected on the progress made
since the 19th General Chapter of 2022. We remain
committed to implementing its vision, focus- ing on
renewing our mission and deepening our connection
with the communities we serve. The bonds of Synodality
—“communion, par- ticipation and mission”—remain
central to our purpose as we move forward with trust in
God’s provi- dence.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Friends of Mill

Hill (FOMH) Directors, Rev. Fr. Kevin Barasa in Kenya
and Rev. Fr. Placide Baton- dobi in Uganda, for their
dedicated mission animation. Their efforts in organizing
the inaugural Mill Hill Family Day 2024 in both Kenya
and Uganda were truly inspiring. To all of you—our
supporters, friends, and benefactors—we say thank
you for walking with us through the highs and lows of
this journey. Your contributions, prayers, and presence
make all the difference.

As we look ahead to 2025, may this newsletter not only

inform but in- spire. Let us continue in the spirit of love
and service, stepping boldly into the future with hope.

The Friends of Mill Hill

(FOMH) is a unique and
blessed community of
Catholics and people of
good- will who, having been
touched by the work and
mission of the Mill Hill
Missionaries, have chosen to
join hands in supporting this
great work. Whether influenced
directly through personal encounters or in- directly by
hearing about the missionary efforts, the Friends of Mill
Hill embody a true spirit of faith, love, and
commitment to the missionary call. The Friends of Mill
Hill support the Mill Hill Missionaries in various ways—
through prayers, emotion- al and physical care, and
financial contributions. They also visit our mission
areas, offering their presence and support to our work
in the field. These friends have become our greatest
advisors, offering counsel that strengthens our mission
and ministry. In addition, they promote vocations by
encouraging others to answer God’s call to serve in
missionary work.

Who Can Become a Friend of Mill Hill?

Becoming a Friend of Mill Hill is open to everyone,
regardless of age or location. The only true requirement is
a willingness to support the mission of the Church,
particularly the work of the Mill Hill Missionaries, with
your prayers and love. There is no age limit—if you can
pray, you can become a Friend of Mill Hill. This
invitation is open to all, wherever you may be. Your
prayers and support, no matter how small, have a
tremendous impact on our missionary work, helping to
sustain the efforts of evangelization and service across the

world.

Gratitude to Our Friends

As we celebrate the Family Day in Mbikko Parish, we
want to ex- tend our heartfelt gratitude to the Friends
of Mill Hill who have been unwavering in their support.
You have stood by us during both our celebrations and
our difficult moments, offering your prayers, love, and
financial contributions to sustain the work of the Mill Hill
Missionaries. We cannot take your commitment for
granted, and we deeply appreciate every sacrifice you
have made for us.

Your love and care have been evident, and as you

continue to stand as models and examples of true
Friends of Mill Hill, we thank God for your lives and for all
you are doing to support us. Your dedication inspires us
and serves as a remind- er of the importance of community
and solidarity in our mission.

Blessings on This Family Day and Masses for our

Departed Brothers and Sisters FOMH who have gone
above us.

We pray that God blesses you abundantly for all your efforts
and sacrifices. As we join hands in this great work of
evangelization, may this Family Day bring us and our
families prosperity, peace, and abundant grace. We
