the small goal.
S has a supply of footballs.
S serves the ball to Gk at their Head Height

Key Factors
The Gk’s Balance, Shape must be correct and in
the Set Position when Server releases the ball.
The Ball must be caught at head-height using
the W shape
The arms must be flexed to act as “shock
absorbers”
Eyes kept on the back of the ball

S has a supply of footballs.
S serves the ball to Gk at their Midriff

Key Factors
The Gk’s Balance, Shape must be correct and in
the Set Position when Server releases the ball.
Keeping Chest square to the ball, hands brought
forward in front of body
Elbows tuck in, palms facing up and fingers
spread
On impact the ball is taken into midriff with
palms securing the ball and elbows tucked in

Scoop Technique or “K”

Set up as shown
Gk starts at first cone----- and then moves into
the small goal.
S has a supply of footballs.
S serves the ball to Gk along the ground
Key Factors
The Gk’s Balance, Shape must be correct and in
the Set Position when Server releases the ball.
Collapse at knees to the “K” position and open
palms to face ball with fingers spread
Lead with hands to bring body weight forward
Head still, and eyes focused in the ball
Bring shoulders forward over hands, elbows
slightly flexed to cushion the impact of the ball
On palms making contact with ball, scoop into
chest whilst bringing body weight forward

To Team mates who must catch the ball and
shoot by throwing the ball

Use Different Coloured Cones for each Goal.
e.g. Red, Blue, Yellow
Servers in front of each goal.
S1 shoots at Red goal, GK saves and moves to
Blue goal and then onto Yellow.
GK then moves Yellow , Blue, Red.
Gk swaps with S1.
Repeat with each Gk.

Different shots at each goal( High, Low)
One handed Diving Saves ( Left or Right)

5 Goals
Set up Grid as Shown
5 goals with 4 goalkeepers on inside
4 Goalkeepers acting as servers.
Gk’s face their server in a goal.
Server’s shot low at Gk’s
Gk’s save, return ball and look for the next
free goal.
Server’s must react and follow Gk to the next
goal.
Continue for 1min then swap Gk’s and
Servers.

Volleys, half volleys, dive to right/left, high
balls

Corner numbered 1-4.
Server 1 Throws High Ball towards GK in the
middle.
Gk catches the ball above head height and
returns the ball back to Server 1.
Repeat with each server.
Rotate GK’s.
Key Factors
Assess the flight & pace of the ball.
Take off on one foot and drive opposite knee
upwards.
Catch the ball at GK’s highest point
W-Catch in front of GK’s eye-line
Bring the ball back into the chest

S serves the ball on the ground aiming for
just outside post working on both sides

S touches ball to the side and then strikes
S bounces ball just in front of GK with a
thrown service.

triangle 5m wide
Gk starts behind pole facing S1 in the “Set
Position”
S1 serves the Ball at Mid Height towards
opposite corner.
Gk must step , to Dive forward at the right
angle to the path of the ball.
When the ball is caught , Gk hands rotate
slightly, so ones on top and one is behind the
ball.
Allows the ball to be secured and also the
ball hits the ground first.
Continue to S2 & S3

Serve on the ground & Shoulder height.

Each Team has only 1 Ball
1st player in each team shoots at their targets
1st player then retrieves the ball and carries it

2nd player shoots and so on.
Winners are the first team to knock down all
their Footballs

Warm – Up
Piggy in The Middle
Set up Grid as Shown
1 Gk in the middle and 2 Gk’s at either end.
The Gk’s at either end must kick the ball from
the ground to the opposite Gk.
The Gk in the Middle will try to save the ball.
If the Gk succeeds, they get a point.
If the Gk at either end completes a pass, they
get a point.
Winner, after all have been in each position
is the GK with the most points.

Thrown Ball, rolled ball, Left foot only, Volley,
Drop Kick

4 Gk’s or more for this practice
Set Up as Shown , 20x10 , half way line
marked and end target zone 3m inside
Gk 2,3 & GK 4 have footballs and are
attackers
Gk 2 attempts to dribble around Gk 1& keep
controlled possession in end target zone.
Continue with Gk 3 & Gk 4
Change Gk’s
Progression
Gk Throws ball to Attackers , moves down
the line of the ball to threaten first touch.
2 Attackers combine to attack

4 Attackers v2 Defenders plus 2 Gk’s
Reds try to score by running ball through
GK’s area(Castle)
Gk’s try to save ball or force attacker out of
their castle. Gk’s score a point for this.
If Purples regain possession they attempt to
keep the ball using Gk’s. 5 passes = 1 point
Change positions so all have been GK,
Attacker & Defender

Gk’s can leave castle to intercept the ball;
Using their hands to dive at feet or
Only regain the ball using their feet(Tackle)

Set up as shown
Red team start with the ball and try to score
in the Yellow team’s goal.
One Yellow plays as traditional Goalkeeper
and the other is an “advanced keeper”
The advance keeper can handled the ball
anywhere in the grid.
If Yellow win the ball, can there score in the
Reds goal.
Progression
Yellow distribute ball to Red Team to start
Use extra player to play with team in
possession
