a breadth of k metres . If it’s given that the area of the rectangle is 48 m 2 and

4.1 The following number pattern has a constant difference of − 6 :

4.2 On the given Cartesian plane below a number pattern is represented. The rule
for this pattern is given as Tn = bn + 15 and n  with T20 (20;55) and the
last term is Tn (n ;115) . Study the diagram and answer the questions that
follows:

The price for the same ice-cream now in 2024 is R10 .

5.1.1 Calculate the average inflation rate over the last 55 years. (3)

5.1.2 What will this ice-cream cost in 2034, if the average inflation rate stays
the same. (3)

5.2 The table below shows the people population in India in 1950 and 2023.

thereafter the interest rate changed to x% per annum compounded yearly.
Calculate the interest rate for the period after twelve years, if the value of his
investment after the twenty-five years will be eight times his original

8.1 A Die and a 5 numbered spinner are used in a board game to determine the
number of moves a player can make. The die is thrown, and the spinner
spined, and the number on the face of the die is added to the number on the
spinning board.

8.1.3 It was established that the die and spinner was used 105 times during
the game, and that a sum-total of 5 was obtained 12 times, calculate
the relative frequency (experimental probability) of obtaining a sum-
total of 5. (1)

8.1.4 Calculate the expected frequency of obtaining a sum-total of 5. (2)

8.1.5 What will cause the experimental probability to get closer to the
theoretical probability? (1)

8.2 The owner of a Pizza restaurant wanted to determine the most popular pizza
selections by his customers in one week. The restaurant was visited by 790
customers in this week. The owner obtained the following data:

• 590 customers ordered a pizza with a meat topping.


• 260 customers ordered a vegetarian pizza.
• 50 customers ordered neither meat nor vegetarian. (Example desert
pizzas).
• x customers ordered both meaty and vegetarian pizzas.

8.2.1 Showing all calculations, determine the value of x , and complete the
following Venn diagram on the DIAGRAM SHEET.
