the form of a condensation funnel. The speed of tornadoes can cause tremendous destruction.
Most of them have wind speeds of about 177 km/h and are approximately 80 metres wide. The
most violent tornadoes can reach more than 480 km/h and stretch more than 3 km across.
Tornadoes are formed during the first stages of a thunderstorm. Usually, there is a change in
wind direction and wind speed increases. This creates an invisible, horizontal effect. The rising
air the thunderstorm brings makes the air rotate from horizontal to vertical, forming the funnel.
Then an area of rotation extends through the storm. This area can be from 3 to 10 km wide.

Sarah loves shopping online. She prefers mobile phone apps, but sometimes she uses her
computer. The phone is more convenient for her, and she can even do her shopping from bed!
She orders food, electronics, books, and even large pieces of furniture such as sofas and
bookshelves all online! But she likes getting clothes from a store, so she can try them on.
Online shopping saves Sarah a lot of time because she is a very busy person. If she thinks of
something she wants, then it is wonderful that she can buy it at that moment.
Sarah's friends aren't as comfortable with buying things online as she is because they think
that it can be dangerous. Of course, bad things sometimes happen, but she is very careful with
all of her personal details. Sarah thinks the biggest fear that people have with using their credit
cards online is that someone will steal their number. It is important to be sure that the web
page is secure. You can see this if the address has got an"s"in it, like https://. That "s" means it
is safe.

A poll, carried out by YouGov for children's charity Barnardo's, asked children and adults
across Britain for their predictions on how young people will talk to each other in 30 years'
time. Only 13% of 8 to 18-year-old think young people will send letters and postcards to each

There are some worries about making sure that people are OK to use technology.
Barnardo's wants more to be done to make sure that kids, in particular, are kept as safe as

Nobody knows how many planets there are in our galaxy and whether there is life on other
planets. And the Kelper has the mission to find the answer to those questions.
In 2009, NASA launched the Kelper space telescope to find planets that support life. It has
discovered five new Earth-sized planets beyond our solar system so far. These planets are
hotter than the Earth. The Kelper team predicted that it will take them at least three years to
find an Earth-like planet. This mission costs about six hundred million dollars.
The simplest requirement for a planet to have life is water (not frozen or gas), so the
distance from the planet's sun and therefore temperature is important. The planet also needs a
certain amount of air. If a planet is as small as Mars (half the size of Earth), it can't hold on to
air molecules because of weak gravity. If a planet is four times bigger than Earth - Neptune
size - it has very strong gravity and too much air. So the size of those planets also matter.

If you want to make Australia your home, it helps to gain some perspective and
understanding of the Australian way of life as it will open up a whole world of exciting new
possibilities and experiences.
Aussies tend to be casual and relaxed and do not like formal greetings very much. When
meeting for the first time, generally Australians shake hands, smile and introduce themselves
with their first names. They love their laid-back lifestyle and take their time with family and
friends very seriously. Picnics, family barbeques, parties, a day at the beach and gatherings at
the park are all essential to the Australian way of life.
Giving and exchanging gifts with family, friends, neighbours and workmates on birthdays
and Christmas is common. If you have been invited to someone's home for a meal, it is polite
to bring a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates for the hosts. Please be punctual as it is
impolite if you are late by more than 15 minutes. If your delay is unavoidable, contact and
