SOLVING:AGE WORD PROBLEM,MIXTURE PROBLEM, AND DISTANCE,RATE AND TIME PROBLEM

AGE WORD PROBLEM

PROBLEM: The sum of Ronald and Vincent age is 18. In 3 years, Ronald will be twice as old as Vincent.
What are their age now?

×=Ronald Present Age

Y=Vincent Present Age

PRESENT FUTURE

RONALD × ×+3

VINCENT Y Y+3

SOLUTION:

×+Y= 18 ; X+3=2Y+6 ×+y=18

×-2y=3 ×=18-y

3y/3=15/3. ×=18-5

Let x represent Ronald's current age and y represent Vincent current age.

The sum of their current age is 18 / x - 1 = 18 . In 3 years, Ronaldi will be twice as old as Vincent
×+3=2(x+3)

Solve the system of equation. Simplify the second equation to x - 2y = 3. And subtract the simplified
equation from the first equation to eliminate x(x + 7) - (x - 27) = 18-3, which simplified to 3y=15

Solve for y: 4=5. subtitute y = 5 into x+y=18 to find x:x+5=18: so ×=13.

MIXTURE PROBLEM

PROBLEM: An 8-liters paint that contains 62% yellow dye is mixed with a paint that contains 16% of
yellow dye. How many liters must be used to make a paint that is 35% a yellow dye?

Solution:

(62% (8)+ 16%L=35% (8+L)

496+ 16L = 280+35L

496-280-35L-16L

296/19 = 19L/19L

Answer: 11.37 Liters

Set up the equation: 0.62(8) + 0.16L = 0.35(8 + L)

Simplify the equation: 4.96 + 0.16L = 2.8 + 0.35L.

Combine like terms: 2.16 = 0.19L.

Solve for L: L = 2.16 / 0.19.

Calculate the result: L = 11.37.

DISTANCE, RATE AND TIME PROBLEM

PROBLEM: The beat of Rider Ronie is rectangular in shape. It is 25 meters more than its width. If the
perimeter of the beat is 210 meters, How wide is the beat?

Solution:
Let the width of the beat be 'w' meters. The length is 'w + 25' meters.

The perimeter of a rectangle is given by 2(length + width). Therefore, 2(w + (w + 25)) = 210.

Simplify the equation: 2(2w + 25) = 210.

Divide both sides by 2: 2w + 25 = 105.

Subtract 25 from both sides: 2w = 80.

Divide both sides by 2: w = 40.
