Multiples of 5 can be written as,

5 × 1 = 5

5 × 2 = 10

5 × 3 = 15

5 × 4 = 20

7×1=7 7 × 6 = 42

7 × 2 = 14 7 × 7 = 49

7 × 3 = 21 7 × 8 = 56

7 × 4 = 28 7 × 9 = 63

7 × 5 = 35 7 × 10 = 70

Since, 49 is a multiple of 7 it can be


measured by using the given mug.

Multiples of 5 = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, …

Multiples of 10 = 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, …

Common multiples of 5 and 10 = 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 …

So, the first 5 common multiples of 5 and 10 are 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50

Machine A and B are cleaned every 5 and 8 days, respectively. If both the
machines have been cleaned today. In the next 90 days, how many times will
they cleaned on the same day? [2 marks]

Given: Machine A and B are cleaned every 5 and 8 days.

To Find: Days on which both machines are cleaned.

Multiples of 5 = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60

65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95…

Multiples of 8 = 8,16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96…

Common multiples of 5 and 8 = 40, 80

Therefore, in 90 days both machines clean on the 40th day and 80th day.

spent the same amount of money, what is minimum number of chocolate
packs Shalini could have bought? [2 marks]

Given: Cost of crackers = Rs. 6 per pack


Cost of chocolates = Rs. 8 per pack

To Find: Number of chocolate packs Shalini could have bought

Multiples of 6 = 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 84…
Multiples of 8 = 8,16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96…

Common multiples of 6 and 8 = 24, 48, 72 …


LCM of 6 and 8 = 24 [1 mark]

Multiples of 11 = 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110,

121, 132, 143, 154, 165, 176,…, 253, 264…

Multiples of 44 = 44, 88, 132, 176, 220, 264…

Multiples of 66 = 66, 132, 192, 264… [1 mark]

Common multiples of 11, 44 and 66 = 132, 264, …

So, LCM = 132 [1 mark]

7. What are the factors of 10? [1 mark]

10 = 1 × 10

10 = 2 × 5

So, the factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5, 10. [1 mark]

Which of the following is not a common factor of 25 and 35?

 A. 1

 B. 4

 C. 5
Factors of 25 = 1, 5 and 25

Factors of 35 = 1, 5, 7 and 35

Common factors of 25 and 35 = 1 and 5

Thus, 4 is not a common factor.

9. Find the HCF of 14, 28 and 35 by listing all the factors.

Factors of 14 = 1, 2, 7, 14

Factors of 28 = 1, 2, 4, 7, 14, 28

Factors of 35 = 1, 5, 7, 35 [1 mark]

Common factors = 1, 7

So, HCF of 14, 28 and 35 is 7. [1 mark]

10. What can be the possible number of notes Alex can keep in each drawer, if
different drawers have same number of either ₹500, or ₹100 notes, with no
notes left over?​
