◗ Warning
> The Galaxy PW 1000 is the single phase version (3 phases IN / 1
phase OUT) for Galaxy PW range.
> This UPS is designed from the 120 kVA Galaxy. The running
sequences, the overload sequences and the available options are
completely the same as the Galaxy PW.
Only the PC board's name are different (CRIV, CROV, AROV, GTCV)
> To program and fix this UPS, we use a Soft Tunor software different
from Galaxy PW, but we use the same electronic key (yellow key AC
version).

> Power supply bus
– Power supplies distribution from ALII Board to the electronics boards, to aquisition
boards and to power module.
– Voltages: +15V , -15V , +15V lem , - 15V lem + 5V , +24V and OV
> Numerical Bus
– Multipoint serial link linking Soft Tunor to the control boards CRII, CROI, AROI and GTCI.
> Command Bus
– These printed circuit tracks enable routing the orders (stopping or starting commands and
so on) to CRII, CROI, AROI. These orders or commands come from push buttons board
(AFSI) or from input contacts (COSI) or from an external data device through
communication boards (BALI, FIJI, MAUI).
> Three multiplexed status buses
– These three buses allow to transmit logic data to GTCI board. There are one bus for CRII to
GTCI, one for CROI to GTCI another for AROI to GTCI.
– These buses are multiplexed, there are made up of eight wires. Four used to code, the
other four are used as useful data.
– The logic data crossing these buses are the result for detection, the position for switches
or the status for the function (eg charger OFF/ON).
> Analogic data bus
– This bus transmits analogic data available on the aquisition board to the
corresponding treatment board as well as GTCI.

◗ Inter-process Bus
– This bus is made up of all the tracks (logic data) that link CRII to CROI or CROI to AROI. These are
interaction between the functions.
> From CRII to CROI
– U batt.NOK : DC voltage not adequate for the inverter operation (Umini or maximum), or inverter
overrun of maximum time on battery operation (3 times the programmed back-up time)
– Auto Dem : (Authorisation to start inverter). Generated by CRII when charger is ON and QF1
closed
> From CROI to AROI
– Ond Prêt : (Inverter part ready), when inverter is running its voltage within
tolerances
– Lim Mask Ver : Inverter running in limitation mode with a limitation mask programmed into CROI board

> From AROI to CROI

– Cde Pilote : (order to synchronise ) Order given to the inverter phase to follow the
mains2 phase (Ref Synchro)
– Basc Aff: Order given to the inverter voltage to reach the mains 2 voltage for
coupling sequence. (inverter voltage = mains2 voltage)
– Arr inter : (Inverter stop forbidden) Order given to the inverter to do not stop when using normal
stopping button. To force the user to use the "force discoupling " button
– Arr Def Coup : (coupling part fault) Order given to the inverter to stop because a problem is detected by
coupling board
– Ref Synchro : Reference given to the inverter to synchronise to. This signal comes from Mains2

Thermal overloads
◗ When load CTs detect an overload, AROI starts a counter. At the end of the
delay, a discoupling sequence occurs . The delay duration depends on the
overload value (see chart next page).

Note : A reset fault and a manual inverter restarting are needed.

◗ If after discoupling, the overload is still present when the mains2 supplies the
load, the same delay time is started.
At the end of this delay, the static switch shuts off.

◗ The same principle is used to protect the legs. The detection is done through
the inverter LEMs, the delay is calculated by CROI board. At the end of the
delay, the inverter stops and discouples.

GALAXY PW
Thermal overloads
◗ The delay duration depends on the detected overcurrent. The chart below shows us the delay duration
function the overload. It is the same for the three thermal overloads (leg, inverter, static switch).

◗ A counter is incremented more or less fast according to the overcurrent value (steps).
A coefficient is used to decremente the counter when the overload disappears (module cooling). The
counter decrementation is done when the current goes back below the rated current.
When the UPS discouples, the counter is not reset.
Note 1 : the inverter restarting is possible even if the load current is higher than the rated current but
the coupling is done only if the load current is lower than rated current.
Note 2 : the discouplings to mains 2 are done with or without break according to the transfer
conditions.

◗ In brief
> The first coupling UPS stop all the M2 Static switches
– everything depends on the sufficient inverter number to couple,
personnalised into the AROI board
> The last decoupling UPS start all the M2 static switches
– In this case only the overload is taken into account to decouple.
– Whe forget the AROi board personalisation settings

Battery test

◗ Test principle :
> The UPS runs on battery discharge mode for two minutes. During this operation we
compare the real discharge curve from the theorical discharge curve given by the
battery supplier. If the real curve is less than -2.5 % from the theoritical curve the
battery is faulty.

◗ Test starting conditions : Mains 2 within tolerance

No output overload
Battery charge > 90%

◗ Test securities :
> The battery test is stopped when :
– Starting conditions become wrong,
– An alarm occurs,
– Inverter stops.
◗ During the test operation the charger is still running at U prealarm + 10 V

Note : When the automatic test stops for any reason, it restarts automatically one hour later.

Battery test

◗ Two kinds of test :

> Manual test : started from AFSI board by the user using "battery test " menu.
> Automatic test : programmed in the AFSI "battery test" menu.
◗ Result display :
> Only a negative result is displayed. We keep it displayed until the next test.

◗ Constraints :
> This function concerns 3 boards (GTCI, AFSI and CRII)with the right technical level.
> These boards must be set as following :
– CRII : Battery presence = YES
Backup time meter validated = YES
– GTCI : Backup time meter validated = YES
– AFSI : Battery test = programmed

> Low battery shutdown warning
– The relay is controlled in the two following
cases :
– Battery voltage lower than the threshold
programmed on CRII board
– The back up time remaining calculated by
the backup time meter is lower than the
value pragrammed on GTCI board.
> Load on battery
– The relay is controlled when the battery is
discharging (negative current read from
shunt) for more than 30 secondes.
> Maintenance position
– The relay is controlled when QF1 is
opened or Q4S is opened or Q5N is
opened or also Q3BP is closed.
> Complete system shutdown
– The relay is controlled when the front
panel "stop button " is activated or when
the "emergency power off " COSI contact
is open.
This contact can be used to trip the
upstream circuit breakers

alarms occurs :
– Charger function internal fault
– inverter function internal fault
– coupling function internal fault
– Battery Temperature out of tolerance
( ATIZ option )
– Load current > 105%
– Leg current > à 110%
– Power module ventilation fault
– Static switch power supply fault
> Load on inverter
– The relay is controlled when the inverter
is running with Q5N and K3N closed.
The reverse contact means running on
static switch.
