Experiment no. : 04
Part -A
Name of the Experiment: Mechanical drilling Practice
Objective:
01) To learn how to mark of plain parts, locate centers, and centre- punch.
02) To know how to set up, adjust and use vertical drilling machines.
03) To know how to drill with a bench drilling machine.
04) To practice countersinking, counter boring, hole – truing and reaming technique.
05) To learn how to prepare a drilling machine for doing a appropriate job and clamp work pieces to
the machine table.
OBJECTIVE OF MANUFACTURING:
Drawing attached.
Portable Drill Machine
Drill is a tool fitted with a cutting tool attachment or driving tool attachment, usually a drill bit or driver
bit used for boring holes in various materials or fastening various materials together with the use of
fasteners. The attachment is gripped by a chuck at one end of the drill and rotated while pressed against
the target material. The tip, and sometimes edges, of the cutting tool does the work of cutting into the
target material.
Portable Drill Machine
A grinding machine, often shortened to grinder, is any of various power tools or machine tools used
for grinding, which is a type of machining using an abrasive wheel as the cutting tool. Each grain of
abrasive on the wheel's surface cuts a small chip from the work piece via shear deformation.
Vertical Drill Machine
A drill press (also known as a pedestal drill, pillar drill, or bench drill) is a fixed style of drill that may be
mounted on a stand or bolted to the floor or workbench. Portable models with a magnetic base grip the
steel work pieces they drill. A drill press consists of a base, column (or pillar), table, spindle (or quill),
and drill head, usually driven by an induction motor.
EQUIPMENT AND ISTRUMENTS:
Bench drill machine, vice, drills of different sizes, reamer of required size, taps and counter
boring and countersinking instruments.
