SECTION - A
I. Read the given paragraph carefully and answer the
following questions.
The world is facing a serious problem of
environmental pollution. Pollution is caused by
various factors such as industrialization, population
growth, and urbanization. This problem is affecting
every living organism on earth, including humans,
animals, and plants. The air we breathe, the water we
drink, and the soil we cultivate are all contaminated
with pollutants, causing serious health problems.

The most significant source of pollution is human


activities. The development of industries and
transportation systems has led to the emission of
harmful gases and chemicals into the atmosphere.
The use of plastic, pesticides, and fertilizers has
contaminated water sources, leading to the death of
aquatic organisms and causing water-borne diseases.
Deforestation, which is primarily driven by human
activities, has resulted in soil erosion, loss of
biodiversity, and climate change.

II. Reading comprehension and answer the following
questions.
There was a small village near a river, and the
villagers used to depend on the river for their daily
needs. However, over the years, the river started to
become polluted due to the waste generated by the
villagers. The villagers used the river to dispose of
their garbage and sewage, which led to the
contamination of the water. The villagers also used
pesticides and fertilizers in their fields, which
washed away into the river, causing harm to the
aquatic life. As a result, the villagers suffered from
water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
The children in the village were the most affected as
they were vulnerable to infections and diseases. The
elders in the village realized that something needed
to be done to save their village and the river.

day. They learned the same things, so they could

it.

perseverance, or belief in the power of communication.
