Introduction:

complex number is an element of a number system that

extends the real numbers with a specific element
denoted( i), called the imaginary unit and satisfying the
equation i2=−1{\display-style i^{2}=-1}; every complex
number can be expressed in the form( a+b), where a and
b are real numbers. Because no real number satisfies the
above equation, (i) was called an imaginary number by
René Descartes. For the complex number (a+bi), a is
called the real part, and b is called the imaginary part.
The set of complex numbers is denoted by either of the
symbols.
C\mathbb {C} or C. Despite the historical nomenclature
"imaginary", complex numbers are regarded in the
mathematical sciences as just as "real" as the real
numbers and are fund.

Objective:

students will be able to
recognize that complex numbers are an extension of real numbers and

form 𝑥+𝑎=0,recall the definition of 𝑖, that is, 𝑖=−1

understand that complex numbers arise as solutions to equations of the

evaluate square roots of negative numbers, for example, √−64,

understand that a complex number is a number that is formed of a
complex of two parts: a real part and an imaginary part,
identify the real and imaginary parts of a complex number

Complex number formula:

Complex addition:

Complex numbers can be added as follows.

If z1 = (x1 + iy1) andz2 =x2+iy2), then the sum z1+z2 is given be
z1 +z2 = (x1+y1)i+(x2 +y2)j.
(If one identifies the complex plane C with R2, then the addition of
complex num-bers corresponds to usual vector addition in R2.)

Complex multiplication:

4
comes equipped with an extra structure that is not present in R2: two
complex numbers can be multiplied to yield another complex number.
Algebraic manipulation complex numbers is formally the same as the
algebraic manipulation of numbers that you are used .

z1z2 =(x1+y1)i(x2+y2)j
= x1x2 + ix1y2 + iy1x2 + i2y1y2

In the last expression, we have written the complex number z1z2 in a

way that makes it clear what its real and imaginary parts are.
Note that complex multiplication (just like real multiplication) is
commutative and associative (and satisfies the distributive property
over addition).

Exponentiation of complex number:

For z∈ C, it's not immediately clear what one wants the expression ez
to mean. One way to extend the definition of exponentiation to the
complex numbers is via the Taylor series: simply define

e ^ z = sum n = 0 to ∞ 1/(n!) * z ^ n

Discussion:

5
Certainly! Complex numbers are numbers of the form a + bi, where "a"
and "b" are real numbers, and "i" is the imaginary unit (i.e., the square
root of -1). They play a crucial role in various fields like mathematics,
physics, and engineering. Complex numbers allow representation of
quantities with both a real and imaginary part, making them versatile in
solving equations and analyzing systems with oscillatory behavior. Do
you have specific questions or topics you'd like to explore within

Conclusion:

Complex numbers are a powerful mathematical concept that combines

real and imaginary components. They find applications in various fields,
such as physics and engineering. The conclusion is that complex
numbers provide a unified framework for dealing with problems that
involve both real and non-real quantities, offering solutions to
equations that might not have real roots. The imaginary unit "i," where
i^2 = -1, is a fundamental element in complex numbers, enabling the
representation of numbers in the form a + bi. This notation facilitates
operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division,
making complex numbers a versatile tool in mathematical analysis.
