Mohamed Bououdina
Energy, Water, and Environment (EWE) Lab
Prince Sultan University
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Dear,

I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in the postdoctoral research position at the Energy, Water, and
Environment (EWE) Lab at Prince Sultan University, specifically focusing on materials science and the
transformation of bio-waste. Leveraging my academic background in Chemical Engineering with a
concentration in environmental applications, along with extensive experience in wastewater treatment and bio-
waste valorization, I am eager to become a part of your vibrant research team.
My academic journey culminated in the completion of a PhD in Chemical Engineering, with a specialization in
environmental applications, from Salah Boubnider University in Constantine, Algeria. Throughout my doctoral
studies, I specialized in various wastewater treatment methodologies, with a particular emphasis on coagulation-
flocculation processes. Furthermore, my recent research efforts have been directed towards enhancing the
production of green hydrogen from biodegradable substrates. I have implemented advanced techniques such as
physicochemical and biological pretreatments, nanoparticle integration, and strategic inoculum selection to
optimize production yields.

In addition to my research endeavors, I have garnered practical experience in the valorization of solid wastes
into valuable resources such as bioplastics and bioenergy. This aligns seamlessly with the objectives of the EWE
Lab. Moreover, my tenure as a Lecturer at the National High School of Biotechnology (ENSB) in Algeria has
equipped me with the skills to effectively mentor students and contribute to collaborative research ventures,
some of my relevant experiences and achievements include:

- Biohydrogen production from various sources,

- Physicochemical treatment of wastewater,

- Enhanced biohydrogen production through enzymatic pretreatment and nanomaterials,

- Application of dark fermentation in bioreactors,

- Bioplastic synthesis from food waste,

- Utilization of 3D printing for enhancing biohydrogen production,

- Toxicity studies in dark fermentation processes,

- Bioethanol generation from food waste enzymatic hydrolysis,

2/9
- Economic analysis of dark fermentation processes,

- Isolation and application of Clostridium butyricum for biohydrogen generation ,

- Contribution to the design and construction of a fluidized bed membrane reactor for hydrogen synthesis.

The interdisciplinary approach and collaborative environment at the EWE Lab are particularly appealing to me.
I am excited about the opportunity to engage closely with theoretical researchers and contribute to pioneering
research initiatives in materials science and bio-waste transformation. I am confident that this role will not only
allow me to contribute to groundbreaking research but also foster my professional growth and development.
I am deeply impressed by the innovative research being undertaken at the EWE Lab and am keen to bring my
expertise and passion to your esteemed institution. With a solid foundation in Chemical Engineering applied on
environment and a relentless drive for innovation, I am confident in my ability to make significant contributions
to your team.

Thank you for considering my application. I am available for an interview at your earliest convenience and can
be reached at +213795114040 or via email at [email protected]. I am eagerly anticipating the
opportunity to contribute to the transformative research efforts at the Energy, Water, and Environment (EWE)
Lab at Prince Sultan University.

Sincerely,

Esma Mahfouf
