State Assistance: The Virginia Department of Social Services offers three ways to assist eligible customers with paying their
energy bills: (Assistance is based on the availability of funds)
- Fuel Assistance - helps eligible households with the costs of heating their homes. Applications are accepted from the
Energy second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November.
- Crisis Assistance - helps households in heating emergency situations with primary heat security deposits, utility heating
Assistance bills, repair/replacement of heating equipment, primary heating fuel or emergency shelter.Applications are accepted from
November 1 through March 15.
- Cooling Assistance - helps with cooling equipment repairs or purchases and with payment of the electric bill. Applications
are accepted from June 15 through August 15

services or dial 2-1-1 to receive a referral to your local state assistance agency.
Dominion Energy's EnergyShare program: Available to customers facing financial hardships. EnergyShare provides bill payment
assistance and sustainable, long-term energy savings through free weatherization services.
- Billl Payment Assistance - applies to any heating or cooling source (oil, gas, wood and electricity) within the Dominion
Energy Virginia's service territory.
- Free Weatherization Assistance - in addition to bill payment assistance, to help save on energy costs, Dominion Energy
offers qualifying EnergyShare bill payment recipients free home weatherization services to help reduce energy usage,
lowering their bills by making lasting energy-saving improvements.
