Content Standards: (poetry) for clarity of meaning, purpose, and target audience
as a foundation for publishing original literary texts that reflect
local and national identity.

Performance Standard: The learners analyze the style, form, and features of
Philippine poetry (lyric, narrative, dramatic); evaluate poetry
for clarity of meaning, purpose, and target audience; and
compose and publish an original multimodal literary text
(poem) that represents their meaning, purpose, and target
audience, and reflects their local and national identity.

Learning Competency: EN7LIT-I-6 Publish an original literary text that reflects

A. Preparation Teacher’s Activity

Prayer Leads the students to a prayer.

Checking of Attendance Checks for absences

1. Pick up any trash near you: Keep our classroom clean and
tidy.
2. Don't speak when someone is talking: Listen attentively to
Classroom Rules your classmates and teachers.
3. Always respect one another: Treat everyone with kindness
and consideration.

A Flight to You
Instructions:
1. Word Reflection: Each student will take a sheet of paper
Motivation and write down one word that reflects the culture of their
country. They have 30 seconds to do this.
2. Paper Airplane Creation: After writing their word, students
will fold their paper into an airplane.
3. Flight and Sharing: Students will then launch their paper
airplanes, aiming to have them land on someone else in the
classroom.
4. Reading Aloud: Whoever catches a paper airplane will
read the word written on it aloud to the class.

Artistic Passport

● Divide the class into three groups.


● Show a map of Asia in the classroom.
● Give each group a piece of short bond paper. Have
them fold the paper in half to make a passport.
● Each group picks a country in Asia (like Korea, Japan,
or Taiwan).

● In their passport, each group should:


a. Draw a picture that shows something important about
their country. This could be a famous landmark, a
traditional outfit, or a symbol.
Activity b. Write a short description about the culture of their
country. Use three sentences and a rhythmic pattern.

Example:
Group 1:

Country: Japan
Picture: A drawing of Mount Fuji (a famous mountain)
Description: Japan is known for its beautiful gardens and
ancient temples. People in Japan are very polite and respect
tradition. They also enjoy eating sushi and ramen!

WHAT IS CULTURE?
Culture is the way we live and celebrate our traditions. It
includes the foods we eat, the holidays we celebrate, and the
values we hold dear.

WHAT IS POEM?
A poem is a short piece of writing that uses beautiful and
creative language to express feelings, thoughts, or stories.

THE PURPOSE AND IMPORTANCE OF POETRY

1. Poems often reflect culture by showing traditions,


beliefs, and experiences from a particular community.
2. Through poems, culture is shared and preserved,
helping others understand and appreciate different
ways of life.
3. Writing a poem allows people to express their cultural
identity, celebrating what makes their culture special

WHAT IS CULTURAL POETRY?

Cultural poetry refers to poetry that reflects, celebrates,


critiques, or explores the customs, values, traditions, beliefs,
and experiences of a particular culture or group of people.

WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANCE OF CULTURAL POETRY?

1. Cultural poetry helps preserve the language, stories,


myths, and traditions of a community, ensuring that
future generations understand their heritage and roots.

2. It provides a medium for individuals or groups to


express their identity, offering a way to articulate the
feelings and experiences tied to their culture,
especially in times of struggle or celebration.

Cultural Poem

Create an original poem that reflects a particular culture that


interests you. The poem should have a minimum of 3 stanzas
Application and a maximum of 5 stanzas. You are allowed to showcase
any culture from the country that you chose during “Artistic
Passport”.

Criteria:

Creativity and Originality - 20%
Structure and Flow - 20%
Language and Imagery - 30%

Total: 100%

Read the poem "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou. In a short bond paper, analyze the poem using
the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) framework. Start by writing a clear claim about the
main message of the poem regarding resilience or empowerment. Next, select 2-3 lines from
