Good day, students, parents, teachers, brothers

and sisters in Christ.

We praise and thank the Lord for gathering us today

to witness our students’ First Holy Communion and
Confirmation. For our First Communicants, as God’s
beloved children, we believe that the Holy Eucharist is
the center of Christian worship. What we receive is
not merely bread nor wine but we receive Jesus
Himself. For our Confirmands, they will receive the
gifts of the Holy Spirit that will make them strong
defenders of the faith.

May the Spirit of the Lord be with them as they

renew their Baptismal promises. Through our
prayers and anointing of the Holy oil, may each one
of them be endowed with wisdom, humility and
courage to live up to the expectations of the Lord as
his disciples.

Let us begin this celebration by welcoming our Lord

Jesus Christ in his minister, His Excellency, Most
Rev. Ruperto Santos, Bishop of Antipolo. Please
stand and join the choir in singing the entrance

A reading from the first letter of Paul to the

Corinthians

No one can say: “Jesus is Lord,” except in

the Holy Spirit. There are different gifts but the
same Spirit; there are different ministries but
the same Lord; there are different works but
the same God who accomplished all of them in
every one. To each person the manifestation of
the Spirit is given for the common good.

The body is one and has many members,

but all the members, many though they are, are
one body; and so it with Christ. It was in one
Spirit that all of us, whether Jew or Greek,
slave or free, were baptized into one body. All
of us have been given to drink of the one Spirit.

In baptism, God our Father gave the new birth of eternal

life to His chosen sons and daughters. Let us pray to our
Father that He will pour out the Holy Spirit to strengthen
His sons and daughters with His gifts and anoint them to be
more like Christ, the Son of God.

(All pray in silence for a short time. The celebrant and the
priests who will minister the sacrament with him lay hands
upon all the candidates (by extending their hands over

The deacon brings the chrism to the celebrant. Each candidate goes to the

The celebrant dips his right thumb in the chrism and makes the sign
of the cross on the forehead of the one to be confirmed as he says:

PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR AND THE GIFTS

During the preparation of the gifts, the Offertory song is sung and the
altar table is prepared. The Presider takes the paten with the bread
and, holding it slightly raised above the altar says:

B lessed are you, Lord, God of all creation.

Through your
goodness we have
this bread to offer,
which earth has given
and human hands have made.
It will become for us the bread of life.

The deacon pours wine and a little water into the chalice saying inaudibly:
By the mystery of this water and wine
may we come to share in the divinity of

God, who, by the will of the Father

COMMUNION
The Priest genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised

And together with the people he adds once:

Lord, I am not worthy

that you should enter under

And he reverently consumes the Body
of Christ. Then he takes the chalice

May the Blood of Christ keep me safe for

After this, he takes the paten or ciborium and approaches the
communicants. The Priest raises a host slightly and shows it to each
of the communicants, saying:

The communicant replies:

While the Priest is receiving the Body of Christ, the Communion Chant
begins.
When the distribution of Communion is over, the Priest or a
Deacon or an acolyte purifies the paten over the chalice and also the
chalice itself.
While he carries out the purification, the Priest says quietly:

What has passed our lips as food, O

Lord, may we possess in purity of
heart,
that what has been given to us in
time may be our healing for
eternity.

Then the Priest may return to the chair. If appropriate, a sacred

silence may be observed for a while, or a psalm or other canticle of
