Beginning of life issues video CERAE

The context of the video was based on infertility and how it affects various couples and their
lives. What are the various options that they can choose from? Since there are plenty of them,
like
intrauterine insemination
-by husband
-donors (donor insemination)
-egg donation
-in vitro fertilization
-surrogate motherhood arrangements
-Adoption
-Or being childless

It also discusses
Which one would be the better
And the various social factors that are associated with choosing one of them

My experience related to this topic is quite practicle. Choosing the best option is a very difficult
desicion, that couples obviously struggle with. IVF being the better technological is expensivee,
with a very low success rate of 20 to 30 percent. My pre school teacher adopted a 4 year old girl
a 3 years ago. They had been trying since a long time, a few years atleast, but then decided
they didn't want to go through the technological options, and hence adopted. But they didn't tell
others for a long time to get away from the societal pressure and judgement that comes along.
And that's just sad.

My reflection is that infertility is a biological condtion and it's a very difficult situation for the
couple's going through it. It not only affects them physically but also mentally. There are several
moral questions about reproductive technologies
should we interfere in a natural process
should we use third party contributors to procreation
problems with surrogate motherhood
And also the problems with IVF group
-leftover embryos
-selective reduction
one in four couples in ivf clicnic spend a lot of money and leave empty handed
the moral equagima people get into after getting into in vitro
All of this creates a huge amount of pressure and hence having an accepting environment and
more and more information available would be of great help to them. also, the large amount of
money that this area yields can blind a doctor's judgment at times, if the doctor is immoral, and
they might not always suggest the ideal options available. this poses a large risk to the parents
and their lives, and can cause mistrust of the parents towards doctor's consultation
My action will be including every option available to these couples. If I was asked to advise
them, I would give them every option with their advantages and disadvantages and ask them to
choose the one that they are comfortable with, that they would really want. I would advise them
to take the call based on their wish, what they mutually would want, not something there might
be foreseeably forced into by their family and peers. It's their bodies, their finances and their
lives that will be completely changed, irrespective of whatever option they choose. A woman's
body is greatly affected when going through IVF, so I'll make sure she's aware of the
consequences. My action as a person in the society will be to make them feel comfortable and
make sure not to do anything or say anything that will magnify their pain.

My evaluation for this video. In my opinion, the video is very good. Along with being
informative, it provides an informal descriptive approach on the topic, discussing all the
financial, social, cultural and religious factors associated with infertility issues among couples.

2. Act of abortion video CERAE

Context
The aim of this video is to provide a panoramic view of laws and policies on abortion around the
world, giving a range of country-based examples. It shows that the plethora of convoluted laws
and restrictions surrounding abortion do not make any legal or public health sense. In short, this
video discusses the issue of the medical termination of pregnancy and the factors related to it.

Experience
In my experience, I've heard and read how illegal abortion is fatal for the mother. Chaining the
act of abortion with so many restrictions, denying the right of women on her own body, forces
one to seek for abortion in unsuitable conditions as it is not legalized and hence is not a freely
available option at most places. All of these factors contribute, in making it one of the prime
causes of maternal death.

Reflection
Reflecting on this issue, we can understand that what makes abortion safe is simple and
irrefutable-when it is available on the woman's request and is universally affordable and
accessible.
From this perspective, few existing laws are fit for purpose. However, the road to law reform is
long and difficult.
In order to achieve the right to safe abortion, advocates will need to study the political, health
system, legal, juridical, and socio-cultural realities surrounding existing law and policy in their
countries, and decide what kind of law they want (if any). Not making abortion a freely available
leads to illegal practices which include doctors violating their codes of ethics and providing
these services in unsuitable conditions which can very well pose a risk factor to the patient's life.
Action
The biggest challenge is to determine what is possible to achieve, build a critical mass of
support, and work together with legal experts, parliamentarians, health professionals and
women themselves to change the law. I'll contribute my action, by participating in the practices
protecting women's rights and spreading awareness regarding safe abortion and its importance,
and work to bring safe abortion, universally affordable and accessible.
-so that everyone with an unwanted pregnancy who seeks an abortion can have it, as early as
possible and as late as necessary.

Evaluation
My evaluation for this video is, in my opinion, the video is very good. Along with being
informative, it provides a descriptive approach on the topic, discussing all the required factors
regarding abortion. I'll surely recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about the
abortion act.
