Rationale The changing curriculum in Philippine education reflects
broader global trends and the evolving needs of society. As the
world advances in technology, industry, and pedagogy,
educational systems must adapt to prepare students for future
challenges. In the Philippines, curriculum reforms aim to enhance
educational quality, relevance, and equity, focusing on critical
thinking, problem-solving, and global competencies. To
effectively implement and sustain these reforms, continuous
professional development for teachers is essential.
Teachers are the frontline implementers of the curriculum
and play a crucial role in translating policy changes into practice.
Professional development ensures that educators are well-
equipped with the latest pedagogical strategies, content
knowledge, and technological tools. It also helps them stay
responsive to new educational demands and innovations,
thereby improving their effectiveness in fostering student
learning and engagement. Ultimately, the evolving curriculum

Based on Table 1 (Learning Development Needs
Assessment), it is evident that the primary competencies
requiring attention among Banaoang West Elementary School
teachers are functional competencies. Therefore, it is crucial for
teachers to undergo targeted training to address these
challenges, equipping them with the necessary insights and skills
to enhance learning outcomes effectively.
