OPERATIONS CIRCULAR Ref: USBA/FLT OPS/100/OPS

CIRCULAR/59-2024
SUBJECT: Takeoff Calculation and Compliance with Published SID Constraints.
APPLICABILITY: A330
EFFECTIVITY: Immediate

Introduction
This circular serves as a reminder regarding the critical importance of accurate takeoff
calculations and strict compliance with Standard Instrument Departure (SID) chart
requirements when utilizing the FS+ system. It is essential for ensuring operational
consistency and regulatory compliance.
Guidelines for Compliance
1. Compliance with Published SID Constraints
Performance Criteria: All SID charts outline crucial performance criteria, including:
 Feet per Minute (FT/min)
 Climb Gradient
 Speed Constraints
Action Required: All crew members must ensure that takeoff calculations align with
these parameters. Use FS+ to incorporate the published climb gradients, speed
constraints, and other performance requirements.
2. Use of FLEX Takeoff and Derated Climb
Purpose: The use of FLEX takeoff and derated climb settings aims to:
 Extend engine life
 Reduce maintenance costs
 Support environmentally sustainable practices
Caution: These settings should only be applied if they ensure compliance with SID
constraints and airport performance requirements.
3. FMS Database Updates and Compliance
Frequency of Updates: The FMS database is updated every 28 days to reflect the latest
published SID constraints, including:
 Speeds
 Altitude Restrictions
 Climb Gradients
Verification: After inputting performance data, the FMS will automatically calculate
compliance with all SID constraints. It is the crew’s responsibility to ensure this
compliance.
4. Responding to Amber and Red Alerts
Immediate Action Required:
If an amber alert or constraint indication appears:
 Check All Engine Gradient (FS+ Application)
 Increase ACC Height up to the 3000 ft AGL.
 If Still Amber, Adjust CLB Thrust from D2 to D1
 If still Amber, Set CLB Thrust
This may further involve:
 Adjusting speeds
 Modifying flaps retraction schedules
 For RED Alerts:
Immediate Action Required:
Take Corrective Action Required by following these steps:
 Update the latest weather report
 Update the latest Load and Fuel data
 Consider runway change.
Conclusion
By adhering to these procedures, all crew members play a vital role in supporting
operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Thank you for your commitment to maintaining these standards in all takeoff operations.
