This is part 2 of the lab from the FCPS Lab book.
It has been modified to use the pHet circuit builder simulation
instead of the wires batteries and lightbulbs just like in part 1. Go through this lab guide and follow the directions
for how to set up the circuits and how to measure the electrical readings. Collect data for each of the circuits you
build, Record that information on the lab sheet provided.
Directions
Step 1 Access the pHet simulation using this link. →
https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/circuit-construction-kit-dc/latest/circuit-construction-kit-dc_en.html
Select the “Intro”
Step 2 Using the pHet circuit building tools, set up circuit 4 using this diagram:
Step 3 When circuit 4 is complete, close the switch and record the current voltage, and brightness observations in Data
Table C. below. (For voltage measurements, using the voltage probe is a little tricky to get right. As a default, each
battery adds 9 Volts to your total. 1 battery = 9 volts, 2 batteries = 18 volts…)
Step 4 Add an additional path and light bulb to circuit 4 to make circuit 5 using the diagram below. When ready, close
the switch and record your current, voltage, and brightness observations in Data Table C On the lab sheet
Step 5 Go back and rebuild circuits 4 and 5 again, but this time, use 2 Batteries (18 Volts)
Step 6 Enter the current, voltage and brightness observations in Data Table D on the lab sheet.
Step 7 After you have entered your observations in to Data Table C and Data Table D, Use the scissors
to “unscrew” or disconnect any of the lightbulbs in circuit 5.
Step 8 After “unscrewing” the lightbulb, respond to the data analysis questions on the sheet.
Step 10 Turn in your completed lab sheet.
