with counterweight governor, the unit that has been triggered can be checked measuring voltages on KBV:1-2
and KBVG:1-2 terminals
► Go to the speed governor which has triggered and do a manual reset

4.2 Resetting a speed governor with remote reset

Hint: A triggered speed governor will result on the safety circuit open between points T2 and T3A. In installations
with counterweight governor, the unit that has been triggered can be checked measuring voltages on KBV:1-2
and KBVG:1-2 terminals
► In installations with counterweight governor, select device to be reset inserting CARBV (car governor) or CWTBV
(counterweight governor) jumpers on BVSEL plug
► Press the DBV-A button on the HMI on SCMAIN
Hint: A reset pulse will only be released by control SW if the voltage on SCMAIN.KBV:6 is 0V, indicating one of
the governors had triggered

4.3 Resetting a speed governor without remote reset

Hint: A triggered speed governor will result on the safety circuit open between points T2 and T3A. In installations
with counterweight governor, the unit that has been triggered can be checked measuring voltages on KBV:1-2
and KBVG:1-2 terminals
► Unplug overspeed governor cable from SCMAIN.KBV
► Place on SCMAIN.KBV the governor reset plug
► Check if lift has entered Governor reset mode (indication RdyBVR on SMLCD 3rd line)

4.4 Alarm filter disabling

Hint: Disabling alarm filtering is not strictly a maintenance task, but it could be required for testing the tele-alarm
function (not covered on this TC)
► Log in SMLCD
► Select menu Commands  DisablAlarFilter ON  OK
► To enable alarm filtering back, use Commands  DisablAlarFilter  OFF  OK

4.5 Modifying or disabling standby mode…

Hint: Standby mode is the SW feature that puts the elevator in a low energy consumption mode when the car is
idle for a time defined by the parameter “standby idle time”. Disabling this feature is not strictly a maintenance
task, but could be required to enable extensive test of other functions (not described in detail on this TC).To
disable this feature, this parameter shall be set to zero, but this operation can only be done when the elevator is
NOT in standby.
► Switch on JRH – this operation will remove lift from standby mode
► Log in SMLCD
► Enter SMLCD menu Parameter  Elevator  StdbyIdleTime
► Change the parameter value to desired value (0 to disable) and press OK
► Perform an elevator reset by pressing reset short on SCMAIN keyboard and wait for the elevator to return to
inspection operation
► Switch JRH off
► Check if the elevator changes back to standby mode with the new time or not enters standby mode, if the value
was set to zero.

4.6 Restoring traction media monitoring function…

Hint: Traction media monitoring keeps track of the suspension traction media (STM) life. When triggered, the
indication "TMMB" appears on the SMLCD, and requires the replacement of all elevator suspension traction
media. After finishing this replacement, the normal elevator operation shall be restarted using the procedure

Copyright © 2018 INVENTIO AG EJ 41326608_04 7 | 23

"Traction Media Monitoring Setup" described in EJ 41326606 Commissioning. The same procedure shall be used
when the suspension traction media is replaced before the monitoring function is triggered.
A data mismatch can occur after operations like SW or chip card download. This condition is indicated by the error
0517 "TM Reference Key Mismatch" in the error log, and will permanently block the elevator with the indication
TMMB on the third line of SMLCD. To recover from this condition:
► Log in on SMLCD
► Perform command on menu Commands  TracMediaMon TMMdataCCref  OK and the data stored on the
chip card will be restored.

4.7 Restoring brake emergency stop counter function…

Hint: Brake emergency stop counter keeps track of the brake pads’ life, counting the number of emergency stops
the elevator has performed, and stopping the elevator in a controlled way when the maximum number is reached.
In this case, a brake inspection must be carried out to measure the brake gap. For the measurement procedure,
refer to the machines maintenance instructions. This inspection could lead to the following results:
► If brake gap is still under the acceptable limit, insert the gap value on the corresponding parameters with SMLCD,
with the following sequence:
o Login on SMLCD
o Commands  BrakeMonEmgStp  ConfigChangeEna  OK
o Parameters  BrakeMonEmgStp  BrakeGap1  <enter value>  OK
o Commands  BrakeMonEmgStp  ConfigChangeEna  OK
o Parameters  BrakeMonEmgStp  BrakeGap2  <enter value>  OK
► If brake gaps are no longer under the acceptable limit, brakes shall be replaced. After brake replacement, the
function shall be reinitialized using the procedure "Brake Emergency Stop Monitoring Setup" described in
EJ 41326606 Commissioning. The same procedure shall be used when the brakes are replaced before the
monitoring function is triggered.

4.8 Pit inspection operation

NOTICE
Principle behind safe pit access is that there shall not be any person in the pit when the lift returns to
normal operation.
This is prevented by:
• An activated stop switch (JHSG or JHSG1) or
• A pit inspection switch (JRESG) in INSPECTION position or
• An open landing door or
• A not yet done pit inspection reset operation

Accessing the pit:

► Move to the bottom landing, on the access side defined for pit access
► Call the car to the floor and assure the car is empty
► Make a car call to a higher floor and allow the car to start moving up
► While the car is traveling and already in a position that assures safe access to pit, open the landing door with the
triangle key. The car will make an emergency stop (evidence that the landing door contacts are correctly wired)
► Press the stop switch on the pit box (JHSG1)
► Enter the pit using the ladder, closing the landing door
► Press the stop switch on pit inspection panel (JHSG)
► Climb back the ladder and release JHSG1
► Return to pit and turn pit inspection switch (JRESG) to INSPECTION
► Release JHSG
► Check movement of the car with DRESG-E+U (up) and DRESG-E+D (down)
► Do the maintenance tasks

Leaving the pit:

► Press JHSG
► Switch JRESG to position NORMAL
► Climb the ladder and press JHSG1
► Return to pit and release JHSG
► Climb the ladder and open the landing door
► Exit the pit, releasing JHSG1 with the landing door still open.
► Close the landing door. From this moment on:

8 | 23 EJ 41326608_04 Copyright © 2018 INVENTIO AG

► Landing doors will be locked by control, waiting by the reset pattern
► a buzzer on car bottom will sound (circa 1 second ON, 1 second OFF) requesting the reset of pit inspection
operation
► Insert the triangle key and turn it twice to get two short openings of the landing door contact (KTS) in a defined
pattern (see below). This action finishes the pit inspection operation, which will be acknowledged by the buzzer
sound - 10 seconds ON continuously, then OFF

► Check normal operation making one car call with SMLCD

5 Repair tasks

6 Single service download

This chapter describes a special procedure that requires usage of program CADI-GC, installed in a laptop. Previous
knowledge of this program, acquired by training, is required to perform these tasks. Therefore this task shall only be
performed by maintenance level 3 personnel or higher.
CADI-GC is connected by RS232 to the controller, therefore a USB-RS232 converter is needed on the controller
side, this converter can be ordered by the following ID 59900212. The converter can be plugged in USB1 port or
USB2 port on SCMAIN.
Hints:
1. Custom services are prepared for some installations, to address special customer requests. Those
services are usually downloaded in the factory, but later changes could require them to be downloaded
in the field, using CADI GC. The service to be downloaded is provided by the corresponding KW
engineering center, in the form of a file with the extension *.sbs.
2. A second download attempt of the same file will erase the downloaded service, restoring the original
standard service or freeing the space in case of a commission service.
3. Single service download of a standard service with a lower version number (for example, 01) than the
one which is defined in the standard control software for the same service (for example, 02) is not
possible. This will prevent overwriting of new version services with old ones.
4. Special commission services must be enabled on the chip card by setting the related “custom service”
bit. If a special commission service is stored in a memory location but the related bit on the chip card is
not set, the service will not be used.
► Launch the CADI GC, open the menu "Utility", go to "Up-/Download" and select "Single Service Download" from

the drop-down menu.

► In the browser window, select a Single Service file for download and hit "Start".

► Service will be downloaded.

16 | 23 EJ 41326608_04 Copyright © 2018 INVENTIO AG

► After download two resets will occur, while new SCT will be built
► Open the menu "Utility", select "Services".

► Check the service is shown in the list of services.

7 Software snapshots
Control SW provides a function to capture events immediately before and after an error, called snapshots. The
generated files are intended to be used for SW debugging, and require specialized training for their analysis. This
chapter details the process to retrieve the files in order to send them for analysis.
Hints:
1. A snapshot is taken automatically every time the lift enters unavailable or fatal status
2. Snapshots can also be taken at any moment the car is in standstill logging in in SMLCD and using the
SMLCD menu Logs  TakeSnapshot command
3. Saved snapshots can further be saved in a Memory Stick, using the following sequence:
a. Log in on SMLCD
b. Insert Memory Stick on SCMAIN USB2 connector (saving snapshot is only supported by USB2)
c. Select menu Commands  Memory Stick  Save Snapshot (note: menu does not appear if
Memory Stick is not inserted and detected by the control)
d. Wait until “Save logs success” message appears on SMLCD
e. Select menu Commands  Memory Stick  Remove Memory Stick
f. Remove Memory Stick

8 Final maintenance and repair tasks

► Return defective PCBA to spare parts supplier, to assure proper disposal
► If car inspection panel (REC) is movable, assure it is parked on its position at the top of OKR.
► Remove signs “Out of Service” from all landing doors.
► Assure lift is answering car and landing calls
► Switch on the hoistway illumination prior to access hoistway or pit.
